Children on Tahitian Princess

It is my 60th birthday next year and I would like to take my children and grandchildren on the Tahitian Princess. Could someone please tell me if there are facilities for a 2 year old and 9 month old baby

There are no children facilities on board at all. It was a Renaissance ship before Princess bought it. Ren cruises were adults only, no one under 18 allowed and Princess has not changed it to be 'children friendly'. It's my advice that Tahiti is not the place to bring children that young unless you want to spend your entire vacation in a tropical paradise babysitting. Also, the flight is very long and not easy for adults to endure. I would not subject very young children to it.

Happy Sailing!

Agree it is not the cruise for a child. On our sailing had one boy about 6 years old and the parents had him with them 24/7. He was darling and very well behaved. We couldn't help feeling sorry for the parents who continually were entertaining him. This appeared much easier during the day than after dinner when he obviously was tired and not easily entertained.

So many great ships with wonderful children's programs and baby sitting I'd look at them.

My understanding was that there was a minimum age limit on Princess, and 9 months is too young for their requirements. I can not remember the exact ages but I think it was around 18 months for the youngest excepted. Please correct me if I am wrong someone!

toto2kansas - you are correct. according to their brochure, the minimum age on princess' "tropical" cruises is 18 months.

Dear Cheryl,

Hello, to the Kiwis in the City of Sails. I want to go back!

So sorry, infants (under 12 months) may not sail on Exotic (International) Itineraries; i.e., Europe, Asia, So. America, Africa, or South Pacific. They May sail on Domestic only after reaching 6 months of age; i.e, Alaska, MR, Caribbean, CA-New England, and Coastal cruises.

I do not think the 9-month-old would benefit much and probably not the 2-year old because there is no Children's Centre nor babysitting private care. If there are 15 children (which I would doubt on this small ship), a Children's Specialist will be placed aboard to provide certain, very limited activities; however, they must be out of diapers and 3 years old.

As A GraMaaaa myself, I totally understand your wanting to celebrate with all the family; maybe go back for your 65th with all of them - a good excuse to return to Paradise. Perhaps the other Gramaaaa can stay at home with them? Just an idea. Then, you could always Honeymoon alone with your DH and celebrate with a Black Pearl.

A Smile is just a little curve that sets a lot of things Straight.

I agree with Princess Di. that the cruise in Tahiti is no place for children though if you wanted to spend oodles of money, one of the resorts would be fine to spend your time with them there.

I feel for you though because I spent my 60th with my family and grandchildren away in a beautiful resort in the Blue Mountains of Sydney (Lilianfels) and it was a very special occasion.

But for our 40th wedding anniversary just on six weeks ago, my DH and myself celebrated it on the Tahitian Princess and it was fantastic. Such a romantic place to relive our wonderful years together. I believe that Tahiti is a place for couples to enjoy and savour the wonderful scenerary, water and people together and the cruise sets the background for that.

The next cruise is always the best!

THere was a baby on our cruise and by most accounts it was rough for him. THis isnt a great cruise for such little kids as there are no onboard facilites for children and no babysitting.

My kids loved this but they were a bit older (15, 13 10).

With such little kids, I would recommend you see what Celbrity has to offer. THey have in cabin babysitting.
