Escape or Getaway entertainment question.

Recommended Posts

We have only sailed on Jewel class ships...four years ago....and now with these newer ships like the Escape or the Getaway I'm uncertain how the entertainment works .

On the Jewel class ships there are production shows, usually two on a seven day cruise plus the going away show, and they were free of charge .

On the Escape and the Getaway are there shows like that that are free of charge or are reservations and up charges mandatory?

Is there a list somewhere of the shows that are not complementary that require reservations and also show an admission fee ?

Escape and Getaway offer two Broadway shows each for free in the main theater

Escape has For The Record: The Brat Pack (compilation of John Hughes Movies from the 80's) and After Midnight (dance). Getaway has Burn the Floor (Latin dance) and Million Dollar Quartet. You can reserve a show in advance for free. They also have a more traditional welcome aboard show on the first night (no reservations).

Escape and Getaway also offer dinner shows for an additional charge. The Getaway has the Illusionarium which is a magic show. The Escape has not named their new dinner show yet.

The Breakaway has two free Broadway shows Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor. And a paid dinner show Cirque Dreams.

The Epic has two free Broadway shows Percilla Queen of the Desert and Burn the Floor. And a paid dinner show Cirque Dreams.

All of the mega ships have free comedy shows that take reservations.

And all mega ships have a lunch show for an additional charge (Wine Lovers the Musical or a Murder Mystery).

It is also my understanding that there are no reserved seats in the theater. First come, first served.

You make reservations to ensure you actually have a spot in the theater, then it is open seating once you are in. In the event there are no shows to reservations, then there is a stand-by line, and they will fill remaining seats from that line.

Thanks for clarifying that. How soon should you get in line and can one person wait for your entire party?

You have to scan your cards when you enter. If the rest of your party doesn't arrive and scan their cards prior to 15 minutes before the performance, then their seats will be given away to the standby line. Doors open 30 minutes before the show to guests with reservations.
