We were on the Mar 3-13 sailing. Social hostess was Barbara. She was very friendly but I did not interact with her (needlepoint to early for me). CD Dottie, first time sailing with her and we really liked her. Crew was wonderful. I never had a problem getting a drink at the pool but I did note there were not many servers. We did have some "Noro" precautions but that went away eventually. Unfortunately we have had an unexpected stay in FLL. After disembarking Dh went into Atrial Fib, admitted to hospital and is still there with hopes of being discharged tomorrow. I was admitted to same hospital on Weds for Acute bronchitis with lung lung issues. Dh needs door to door escort back to NH. We hope to leave by Thurs. my point is YOU MUST PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE

So that's who the Social Hostess is...the lady that sets up crafts, etc. When someone mentioned SH earlier, I had no idea who they were talking about. On Celebrity, the social hostess is the Captain's Club representative that arranges all the parties, works the room at cocktail parties, meets the new passengers, and invites certain passengers to eat with the Captain, among her other "social" duties.

Dojo - Hope you and your DH are on that plane Thursday and on the road to recovery. Two years ago, I came off a cruise and had a bad episode of A-Fib, hospitalized, etc. I attributed it to too much alcohol. :D From then on, I go armed with extra meds...and we do take out travel insurance. :)

Social Hostess on Oceania basically does the same job as the SH on Celebrity. She usually does the introduction to the Captain, arranges the Captains dinner, invites other passengers to join her in the dining room, arranges a single person get together and so on.
