Carnival Gift Card?

Q: Where can I use the Carnival Gift Card?

A: It may be used online on Carnival.com, GoCCL.com or by calling Carnival (1-800-CARNIVAL); it may also be used to pre-purchase shore excursions and spa experiences or redeemed onboard as payment toward your onboard spending account (Sail & Sign).

At this time, a gift card cannot be used to purchase items from The Fun Shops (Bon Voyage items), either by phone or online.

We like to pay as much as possible ahead of time. I didn't have any problems using gift cards to pay on the balance of the cruise. But, when I wanted to purchase Cheers!, as it is more expensive to wait until on board, there was not an area to apply a gift card. I called Carnival and after waiting what seemed like forever on hold, they transferred me to the Fun Shops, again after holding, was told, no gift cards before cruise for Cheers! Could only use on board. He was sympathetic about not wanting to wait as it would cost more. Long story, little shorter, I ended up prepaying my tips with the gift cards and putting my Cheers! package on a credit card. Every post I have seen regarding applying g.c.'s towards cruise cash always say No! Cruise cash is not refundable and prepaid gratuities, Cheers!, etc... is.

I used my Carnival gift cards to set up a "cash" account at guest services when I boarded in Long Beach, than pulled out the balance in cash from the casino the night before debarkation. No problem :)

I had my 3 gift cards applied by the rep at check in instead of giving them a credit card. Each card had to be entered individually and it took a few minutes but I bet it was faster than guest services. Next time I will have the rep enter just 1 and then I will use the kiosk for the others.

That's what I was thinking about doing. Thanks for the feedback

Actually it takes the same amount of time at either check in, GS, or the kiosk. No matter which way you do it , they (or you) still have to type in the numbers. I get the e-gift cards and have done them all 3 ways. I liked having it done at the beginning his time so I didn't have to worry about it.

I did add another one later on in the cruise at GS.

We have a credit card on file, but we want to add a gift card instead. I assume they will do that at check in or should we call ahead of time?

We earn 7% toward our son's marching band fees by buying a Carnival Gift Card from Benefit mobile! Wish I had done it with the cost of the actual cruise too, but didn't really know about it then :)

You have to do that at check in or on the ship. You can go back in and change your account to cash (which is what I do) and apply them right then and there at the port. But if you want to leave your CC as the payment above and beyond the amount of the GC then leave it the way it is and give it to them at the port to apply.

It's up to you. Have a great cruise!
