mared1 Posted October 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2005 For anyone who has flown through Detroit - how is that airport set up? We are flying in January with a connection in Detroit - we have about 45 minutes between flights which should be more than enough time, I think. KevBew Posted October 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2005 If you are on Northwest you have plenty of time. If you are changing carriers you need to move quickly. All NWA flights are out of the McNamara terminal which is pretty big but if the inside tram is running you're good to go. If it's not running, (not that unusual) you wont have a lot of time to dawdle. If you are changing carriers you are going to have to move fast. It requires a cab or shuttle ride and if you only have 45 minutes the cab is your only choice. the shuttles will not rush to get you to the Smith terminal and you have another security line to get through. CruisinMatt Posted October 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2005 I have only flown Northwest and DTW is great for connections with them, I agree with KevBew.

MichTraveler Posted November 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2005 If your flight is on time, you should have plenty of time. If you find that you have time to spare (hey, it happens sometimes!) be sure to check out the Detroit specific shops in the middle of the airport near gate 40. Includes Motown and Henry Ford. It is a nice, new airport with easy movement between the A-gates (about 80 of them). The indoor tram really cuts the time from one end to the other and plenty of moving walkways that work. I usually have bigger problems with the summer wind storms than the winter ice/snow.
