cruisinmeme Posted March 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Does anyone know the time of the bbq on the dream for embarkation day. Also is it served only on sea days after that? I am sure we can find it but which side of the ship is it? We sail in one week and I am getting my ducks lined up.haha
DallasGuy75219 Posted March 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2016 I don't recall it being open on embarkation day. Definitely only open on sea days the rest of the cruise. It's midship starboard on the Promenade deck. The actual foodservice area isn't especially visible through the windows along the interior promenade walkway, so you have to go outside and do a little exploring to find it. jh2360 Posted March 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2016 It's on sea days and it's not a true BBQ.
cruisinmeme Posted March 27, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Thanks... We tried ncl sail away BBQ for the first time in November. It was something different for a change. They just reheated chicken legs and hamburger patties on a grill and had all the BBQ trimmings. Like I said something different. I don't care how many times a menu changes when you have been on a huge amount of cruises you feel you are eating the same thing over and over. cruiseonthebrain Posted March 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Only on sea days- but it is something a little different in a different atmosphere- we really enjoyed it. Very laid back picnicky feel.

Very laid back picnicky feel. And even if you don't eat there, it still helps to get people off the Lido deck on sea days, especially around lunch time. Cruisin Dave Posted March 28, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2016 There is a new BBQ being installed during Dry Dock. It's designed by Guy Fieri. I'm hoping the Dream will receive it in the January/February dry dock.
suzycruiser2 Posted March 28, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 28, 2016 When we were on the Dream, the BBQ was only scheduled for sea days and is cancelled if raining or high winds. It consisted of sliders, hot dogs, and a few other items that I don't even remember.

Qchell Posted March 29, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2016 We were on the Dream a few years back and checked it out - I don't know if they have fixed this since then, or if it was just that day, but you may want to be sure to bring something to drink with you. There was no lemonade/water/tea station the day we ate there. Personally - we prefer the tandoori on the back of the ship on the Lido deck for lunch. Absolutely incredible food! Micahs Grandad Posted March 29, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 29, 2016 It is nice to have another alternative for lunch.
Cruising Sparty Posted March 29, 2016 #15 Share Posted March 29, 2016 We were on the Dream in January. The barbeque was only on Sea Days, and it was cancelled on 2 of our days due to rough weather. The one day I did get to try it, I felt the pulled pork was the best option. Overall, I think Guy's Burgers are better than most of what is offered on the BBQ, but the pulled pork sandwich ranks right up there with Guy's.
