Star Bar is now Sugarcane Bar. It is bar stools only. Also the bar pours drinks for Cagneys and Moderno. There is a shared Cagneys Moderno lobby area. The bar is part of Modernos.

Presumably Cagneys does lunch for suite guests, I dont know whether the bar is open as well.....even if it was, I wouldnt describe it as a "lounge".

We sailed on the Star last June a few weeks after the dry dock was completed. We went in the sugar cane bar a few times in the evening for pre-dinner drinks when we were dining at Cagneys.

We found it a pleasant space with some comfortable chairs and tables. Not sure about bar stools, I wasn't looking for them as I rarely if ever sit on one or at the bar and only if that is the only seat available. Great view of the pool deck. Not sure how they use it during the day time.

In October, there were about ten bar stools around the bar, but apart from that, it was just standard Moderno "eating tables" and two/four "eating chairs".

It would have been nice if the area between the salad bar and the entrance was comfy chairs/sofas. Maybe they went in order to fit more covers in the restaurant.

I am quite sad and disappointed to hear they decided to change what was a nice, comfortable area to sit and have a drink before dinner or a drink after dinner into an area of what sounds like "nothingness". When we sailed it was only a few weeks after dry dock and the bar had only just been created. I can only assume management decided this was a better use of the space or maybe it didn't make enough money for them. We used to meet up with our dining companions there before going in to eat and then have coffee and liqueurs afterwards before hitting the casino.

Sailed Star in March, Sugarcane Bar was only serving drinks to suite guests seated for breakfast and lunch in Moderno (Cagney's on first day). As it was the closest bar to our room, we tried getting drinks there before dinner several times with mixed results. When I first went I let the bartender know I was a suite guest and he said fine. Later, another passenger (non-suite) happened by and got in line behind me for a drink but they told her they were closed, that didn't go over well. If a manager was around they would always say they were only for dining guests. There were about six chairs and two small coffee tables as well as about eight bar stools open as Sugarcane during dinner hours, a bit strange as a few of the Moderno tables are also squeezed into that area.

Odd. Pre-dinner drinks seemed to be prime time for Sugarcane, maybe from 5.30 pm or so it was rammed. Standing room only at times. Was it still Kenneth and Joey there? If not, maybe thats why they were saying its suite guests only.

I was tying to say they would open around 5pm as a bar for the general public. Before that they were officially not serving at the bar, bartenders were just there for seated breakfast/lunch people's drink orders. When we ate at Moderno one night we were seated near the bar, there were about six people at the bar who seemed uncomfortable being so close to the dinner tables that they soon left.
