This is the first time that I remember being given a check in time. We have 1:30 - 2:00 PM check in when our ship sails at 3:PM.....the e-docs say to be on board 2 hours prior.......something is not quite right....

We will arrive early.......

Hi there - you're sailing with us on the Breakaway this Sunday, right? My friends who just booked the cruise 2 days ago have the same exact situation. I was actually going to post and ask about how they are supposed to arrive between 1:30 and 2:00 and still be onboard 2 hours prior to sailing. But luckily, they are much less Type A than I am, so they're not terribly concerned about these little details. They're going to arrive at the pier around 1:00 p.m. I'll be waiting onboard to great them!

I have a text from her that she sent me last night: "Don't you ever like to just wing it on vacation?" If only I could......:)

That had me literally laughing out loud! Have a great cruise! We will be on Breakaway in two weeks! Hope you have smooth sailing. :)

We haven't cruised in a few years and this check in time is new to us. We are not sailing until August and haven't done our on line check in yet. Do you get to choose your check in time? We have always liked to arrive at the port around 10 - 10:30ish and have gotten on ship around noon. I like to start my vacation as early as possible :D

We have never had check in times on NCL. We just showed up. This upcoming cruise we are in a suite and plan on arriving early no matter what we are told. On Disney you get a time and they won't let you in the line til your time.

You will have no problem at all. Suite guest can go anytime. I don't have a time for my Aug cruise on the BA in a suite.

As a Haven or suite guest, a Platinum Latitudes Rewards member or a guest with air travel or transfers provided by Norwegian, you do not need to select your arrival time to the pier. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 9:30 am - 10:00 am and no later than 1 hour prior to departure and we will get you settled in.

Casino at Seas guests also do not have to select a check-in time in NYC, sailing on BA (should be same for the GEM) - which is same procedure as for other similar VIP for checking in, although the priority order are different - Haven & Suite guests will be escorted - and, unless the sequence changed - guests with special needs (accessible & families with small children, etc.) are also given time to board first (if they are there early & already checked-in to wait)

Hopefully, anyone traveling by train already arriving in NY earlier and not stranded nearby. On a side note, there's train disruption this morning until further notice - Amtrak train #89 - the "Palmetto" (departed NY Penn bound for Georgia with 341 pax & 7 crew onboard) on the Northeast derailed, collision involved just before 8 AM in Chester, PA - resulting in all services suspended between Philadelphia and New York City. Sadly, there are 2 confirmed fatalities thus far and # of injuries unknown, details forthcoming - EMS on scene for hours handling this MCI with ambulances being staging for triage ... Wires down, fuel spilled & damaged rails, etc. as I am listening to live radio relays. Amtrak has established a hotline to provide assistance to affected pax, families & loved ones seeking info. Our thoughts & prayers for the losses & speedy recovery - a high wind warning remained in effect and strong gusts of 50+ mph in our immediate area.

I saw that derailment on an alert. Crazy someone left a backhoe on the track! I double checked our time coming in and it's 915 am. Should leave plenty of time to get to the ship. We usually sail out of Miami and fly in day or two before. Looking forward to taking a train the day of! I know delays can happen but barring a derailment we should have plenty of time. Incase of a derailment we will have worse issues then missing a cruise.

we just got off the Breakaway today and loved it (Even booked a repeat trip on the same ship for the summer before we got off the ship).

they assign check in times to spread out the crowd, but we got there much earlier than our check in time and had no problem getting right into line to check in. we got there about 11:30AM it did take almost an hour to get through the lines (but that is to be expected on a ship with this many passengers)

I saw that I believe Cantin had a Ck in time on Breakaway between 2 and 2:30. Is that really true? It will make me feel much better, because my family and myself do not arrive in Nyc port authority until 12:15, so there is not much spare time for traffic jams. Knowing that they will still let passengers on at 1:30 makes me feel better

By taxi, the ride from Port Authority bus terminal over to MCT is about 10 or 15 minutes, and for your "late" arrival around 1 PM, traffic should eased around the side streets leading to the terminal.

All abroad is 2 hours before sailing due to Homeland Security as the final pax manifest has to be submitted for approval. For Bahamas sailing, scheduled sailaway has been 3 PM but for Bermuda, including ours - it's 4 PM (cutoff for us is 2 PM - but we will arrive around 10 to 10:30 AM since we have priority status, etc.) as we usually get thru all the formalities in 20 to 30 minutes & read the Freestyle Daily prior to boarding, activate the iConcierge App when connected, etc.

When in doubt, call into NCL and ask - they might be clueless as the website info is not known for 99.75% accuracy
