Need tour ideas for Torshavn

We more or less have decided on which tours with Princess we want to take for our upcoming cruise except in Torshavn. Has anyone visited here and if so what are the main attractions or sights to see?

 

Some of the tours include the Tinganes, the village of Saksun, and the National Historical Museum.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we really are undecided on this port.

We visited Torshavn in 2001 on a HAL cruise and took a morning excursion on a bus ride into the mountains overlooking Torshanvn: the scenery was spectacular! It is a beautiful and pleasantly surprising place. After the bus ride, we strolled all over town on our own and thought the shopping was very good. Torshavn has a picturesque harbor, reminiscent of New England small town harbors, with lots of small boats of all kinds and colorful houses and buildings.

Thanks for replying. We're thinking of taking a tour also but there are so many we're having a hard time deciding which one to do. Some mention the

National Historical Museum others the village of Saksun. Do you remember the name of your tour or what you saw?

SF: I will have to do some research on the name of the excursion we took. It was about 2-3hours long. Torshavn proper is very walkable. I will post again with results of my research. :)
