Q2k2012 Posted April 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2016 I am cruising the med in June with my Dad who is 83 years old and has mobility issues. He can walk short distances up to 1/2 mile but generally uses a travel mobility scooter. We also have a travel wheelchair that we are taking with us. The wheelchair packs into a bag and is easy to carry, but is less comfortable than the scooter and has very small wheels. I have already decided that for the Greek destinations and Venice wewill need to use the wheelchair due to all the steps involved. My question is whether it is possible to get around Dubrovnik, especially the old town, and Split on a mobility scooter? I can lift the scooter up and down the curbs, and Dad is used to cobbled streets (though he doesn't like them), but it is impossible to carry the scooter up and down stairs. One other question has anyone recently hired a private taxi in Athens that they would recommend?
Captain Beefheart Posted April 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2016 Hi, got taxi to old town of Dubrovnik from port, put scooter in back of taxi.(pride go go elite) Return taxis are freely available. Dubrovnik has alot of cobbled streets but managed to get around most of town o.k on scooter or with wheel chair ,well worth seeing.
Q2k2012 Posted April 4, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks Captain Beefheart. I'm much relieved we'll be able to get around Dubrovnik. Hopefully Split will be similar.
