SoFloDeb Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Okay, here's my dilemma: Just got the Captain's Circle Flyer with the $1099 balcony cabin special. This is a 10 night cruise for lots of dates in January and February. We are presently booked on the CP for January 15, 2005 for just a little bit less for a BB Cat balcony.I'm wondering if I should switch my CP cruise to the 10 day cruise. I know nothing about the Sun or the Dawn and I've been real excited about the CP. But maybe I'll be more excited about the 10 day. Oh my, decisions, decisions. Any thoughts from you all out there, would be really appreciated. Guest Posted May 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2004 By CP you mean Caribbean Princess? I'd pick Dawn or Sun - relatively smaller ship, more intimate in scale. If you're talking Coral Princess, that's a different story. ------------------------- Sun Princess, 03/2004; Pacific Princess, 07/2003; Star Princess, 05/2003; Grand Princess, 10/2002; Grand Princess, 10/2002; Sun Princess, 05/2001; Sun Princess, 04/2001; Sun Princess, 09/2000; Sun Princess, 09/2000; Regal Princess, 10/1999; Sun Princess, 08/1998; Holiday, 05/1998; Westerdam, 09/1997; Regal Princess, 11/1996; Royal Odyssey, 09/1995; Starward, 11/1993
sue d. miller Posted May 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2004 If I had the choice, I would take a 10 day in a heartbeat. Sue 7 days on Star Princess 10/
Rare Coral Posted May 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I prefer the Sun and Dawn to the Grand class ships (which would include the Caribbean Princess). I also like the Coral Princess. I prefer the smaller ships also. Sort of "less chaos".
spongerob Posted May 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 10 days instead of 7? No-brainer. Completed: Sea Princess, Royal Princess, Grand Princess (3X), Caribbean Princess, Golden Princess Coming up: Tahitian Princess Oct 14/04 Caribbean Princess redux 6/25/
yensid1071 Posted May 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Like others here, having been on the Dawn and Caribbean, there are features from both that I like better than the other. But 10 days vs 7 days? Give me 10 days!!! Caribbean Princess - 4/2004 Dawn Princess - 12/2003 Sea Princess - 12/2000 Emerald Seas - 7/1984
SoFloDeb Posted May 5, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Thanks guys! I was ready to change my booking and decided to make sure I was reading everything right. duhhhhh Under the departure dates it specifically says $1099 for 2004 sailings. I can't go till 2005. However, as we get closer maybe we'll get a 2005 promotion. Would love to do a 10 day - haven't done one since 1991 on the old Sky Princess - though it was an awesome ship at that time - classic beauty, awesome service, etc. Thanks again!!!! cruisingfreak Posted May 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Like everyone has said, when you get the chance in 2005, go for the 10 day cruise. The Sun class ships are wonderful! Minette
WendyG Posted May 5, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I know how everyone raves over the Sun Class ships but I had a much better time on my 7 day Golden than my 10 day Sun. I think it depends on the cruise director and crew staff, plus on a 10 day (nothing against older folk) but the age of the passengers change. I still remember this old bat about 85 pushing me back when I was walking through the aisle to sit down (apparently she was "saving" the seat for someone) She got up and pushed me and bitterly said "you're not sitting here!" I was so shocked I just turned around and walked away. The itinerary is sweet though, I don't like to fly so taking the 10 day is nice to hit those Southern Ports. Either way I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time, I'd say you should do BOTH cruises! until the Caribbean Princess! seagarsmoker Posted May 5, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2004 As others have noted, I'll take a Sun class ship over the Grand class ships any day. If they have similar specials for the 10 day cruises, I'm sure they will be out in the fall newsletter. We're booked for a 10 day on the Sun in '05 and our balcony rate is about $200 more than the $1099 in the last flyer (with a $200 room credit). I just have a feeling those bargain prices we all saw the last couple of years won't be around in '05. fun, fun, fun, the warmth of the sun, JBrown booked - Sun Princess (SC-10) Feb 27, 2005 Celebrity Century (EC-7)03/03 Sea Princess (MR-7) 03/02 Sea Princess (WC-7) 03/01 Grand Princess (EC-7) 03/99 Sun Princess (WC-7) 03/98 Celebrity Century (EC-7) 09/97 Star Princess (SC-7) 09/94 RCI SOS (EC-7) 03/92 Carnival SYJ (scrap yard junk) 09/
