Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #651 Share Posted April 24, 2016 She shot out of the tunnel and at least she has part of it right...she had her arms crossed and she was laying down. Daddy was squirting her on the way out of the drainpipe. This slide is fun, but I really wish Carnival would make them like they do on NCL. With NCL's Epic, it has the drainpipe too but you shoot out of the tunnel, into the drainpipe, spin around a few times, then where the opening is (the steps on Carnival), you go down again on a slide to the bottom and end just like you do at the end of regular water slides. We spent almost 3 hours here today. I was getting hungry and we decided to go hunting food.
tropicaledrink Posted April 24, 2016 #652 Share Posted April 24, 2016 What were the late night options from last year on your funtimes? Just wondering. Like what were the times and what options did you have? I'm just wondering when it changed because I don't (off the top of my head) remember having these issues on the Pride or Dream (but then again, I could be getting some of my cruising mixed up and I'd have to check my funtimes as well). Hey Kim - in my fun times it says "Late Night Snacks" and the time frame was 11am-1am. We walked through a few times, and it seemed it varied some each night. I know there fries at least a couple of nights, I think maybe something a long the line of chicken tenders one night?, and some other options. It was never a huge setup, but it was definitely more than Pizza. It was in my funtimes from our Pride sailing on May 31. :)
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #653 Share Posted April 24, 2016 So today the buffet would be open during the time we decided to have some lunch...but what do we do? We headed to Guys Burgers because it just sounded good! I got my pig patty on and then we finished with an ice cream cone. We still wanted to try the ropes course out and seen that they were open. We headed back to the room to change and get our tennis shoes on then headed upstairs. The line was kinda long and it seemed like we waited forever. It didn't seem to move fast and the sun was so hot to stand in. The bad part is, they only allow 6 people to go at the same time??? Geesh, this is going to take forever. We finally hit a spot with some shade and we cherished every minute of it. The next thing is that they allow you to go around twice. However, they can't seem to find a way to keep track of this and kids would go around and around again and not want to come off. They would ask them how many times they had been around, some would lie others would tell the truth. I heard one group of kids say 6 times!!! This is where they suit you up for the adventure. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #654 Share Posted April 24, 2016 These are the lockers they have you put your things in. However, they don't allow you to take the key with you??? They tell you to just shut it and it would be fine. It was finally our turn and Sakari was getting suited up. Since we were a group of 3, they allowed 7 people on our run. I remember seeing the Breeze back when it first came out and thinking "wow, this ship is amazing" and I couldn't believe it had an actual ropes course on it. Then later NCL would decide to build their newest ships with a ropes course too. After being on NCL on both the Breakaway and Getaway, they totally blow this small, square ropes course out of the water. This ropes course was nothing. It was just a square with a few different things to do. NCL has a ropes course that takes forever to go on and goes so many different ways, winding back and forth, down both sides and across the middle. Then they also have the zip line. Nothing big, but still fun to know you zip lined on the ship. It takes awhile to make it around their course. Carnival, not so much. I guess I had never really noticed this until now. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #655 Share Posted April 24, 2016 The first time Sakari "became of height" was on our Breakaway cruise last year. She did well, but she also freaked out several times and had a break down at one point, with her sister (I believe it was) rescuing her, and had me down below talking senses into her to keep going. She claimed she loved it after it was all done and over with. So, I figured this little ropes course would be nothing compared to that. She had her moments that she freaked out because she was trying to pull her rope above along while holding on. No matter how many times I told her that it would follow her and she didn't need to do that. The only time you need to pull it along is at the end sections to make it go which direction you wanted it to go. She just didn't get it and would swear that it is not moving. It seriously took us FOREVER to get around once. Once was enough for me and I said I was heading out. But wait...Sakari wants to go again? Seriously? Ok daddy, you're staying with her and I'm going down stairs for pictures then...see ya. I left him hanging with his mouth open and that was that. People had lapped her several times, new groups had started, and she was only on lap 2. But hey, what ever makes her comfortable I guess. I think the second time around she was getting the hang of it. She actually had a smile look on her face at times and did her second lap in about 1/2 the time it took her the first time around. Other times, not so much and the worried look returned. Still trying to pull along that harness rope. I watched a little girl way smaller than Sakari just run this course like she was walking on land. Eeek.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #656 Share Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) Daddy playing batman. "I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky." All this hard work watching them go around a second time was making me thirsty. I decided to head to the bar there in the middle of all this and get a Hurricane Wave. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #657 Share Posted April 24, 2016 Yep, this is hitting the spot. She's in the home stretch now... She made it out alive...twice actually. She was proud and said she enjoyed herself. Well hey, that's all that matter I guess, not the 10 hours we just spent on you making all the way around the "fun" "enjoyable" course. The steel drums were playing on the pool deck while the DJ was also doing some mixing with them. We dropped Sakari off at the kids club so that she could eat "dinner at 6pm" with her friends and we headed upstairs for the hubby to have a cigar. Here you will see someone taking up the chairs, just laying there on your phone...which CAN be done in other areas you know!
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #658 Share Posted April 24, 2016 We headed to the casino for about 2 hours. It wasn't treating us too bad today. I won me $42 on this spin. I'll take it. I did $1 bet so I must have been brave that day. Fisherman Bob always give me something good while I'm sitting there, but he didn't catch any big fish this time around. Little Red Riding Hood never gave out big money, but it was always fun to play and I would say at least 3/5 spins would hit "something" that changed into money. So it was always a fun game. The first time I played this game and hit for $24, got up and walked away. Bob gave me a little over $10 again. Just treat me good Bob and I'll be back. $18.55 this round...thanks Bob, I'll be back. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #659 Share Posted April 24, 2016 After 2 hours in the casino, I was burned out. We decided to do a little shopping and I picked up a scrapbook, some inserts, then headed to the candy store...where my hubby had been eyeballing some candy all week. We ended up with around $30 of sugary goodness and decided if we couldn't find dinner for the next 2 days, at least we could rot our teeth out. We picked up sis at the kids club and she was sporting a new style this time around. I ask her why she didn't color her shirt this time (she has several different Carnival shirts at home...all not colored) and she said because I was busy doing this... Now I know she's young, but on Carnival, age doesn't matter. They tatted her up! She had them put her tat the same place mommy has hers. And another on the wrist
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #660 Share Posted April 24, 2016 We headed up to the pool deck and watching Transylvania (which we had already seen at the movies, but really liked the show and Sakari wanted to stay). We sent the newbie with the red card over to get popcorn AND pop. I wondered how he would handle all this, but he managed. It was hot out tonight, so no need to rent blankets, but they always had the cutest little towel animals at the stand. I wish I would have taken a picture of them each night. Well, it's our dinner time and guess what...that meant if we were going to eat, it would be pizza. We headed to the Pizza Pirate and stood in the long line. By the time we got our pizza and sat down, Sakari was drifting off as she was eating. Before long, this would be our company for the night. Not much conversation going on here. When it was time to go, we woke her up and it was like she just had a power nap. We walked around for awhile and some how ended outside of the Red Frog pub in this neat little swing chair where we would spend some time just "chatting". I love doing this with the hubby. We talk about anything and everything...life, life goals, improvements we can make, where are we going from here. It's just a nice quiet time for us and no one was around but us. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #661 Share Posted April 24, 2016 We headed back to the room and watched some t.v. Tonight's towel animal was.... Good night...I'll see ya around 4am when the pots and pans start up again.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #662 Share Posted April 24, 2016 Yes they both have pools but the one at Belair is small and only 4 feet deep. Divi has a pool but day guests are not allowed to use it. Oh just wondering (although I'm aware that a lot of the resorts don't allow day guest to use them) since I didn't actually see any at either place. :)

Really, people, don't be a sofa hog. Ugh, I hate that. I did notice plenty of people doing this inside as well, although the places they were sleeping, is was during "off hours" and nothing was going on at the venue (like the piano bar during the day). But when it's a busy "hot spot" liking a smoking area and they are limited to begin with...don't be a sofa hog. So rude.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #664 Share Posted April 24, 2016 DAY 7-APRIL 2ND SEA DAY After hearing the banging-clanging at 4am, I did manage to drift back to sleep again and at 7:30am, I hear a different kind of noise...what now? It was the phone ringing. Now who in the world is calling me at 7:30am? Really? As ticked as I was about the phone now waking me up, there was a nice sweet little voice on the other end of the line reminding me of the Dr Seuss breakfast this morning at 8:30am. WHAT?!? Oh my! Thank you so much for calling and letting me know. So obviously they must have 2 different days they do breakfast. Maybe because it's such a big ship with so many people on it or maybe they just had so many people sign up. Whatever the case, I was glad that we were going. I rushed to get the family up and Sakari was super excited. She put on her Thing 1 outfit and we rushed to breakfast. When we got down there, there really wasn't many people in line. This was way different than our Pride cruise where people were lined up down the hall. It was decorated just like the Pride was.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #665 Share Posted April 24, 2016 They had a table waiting just for our family and I was glad about that. We were served our very own bread and danish basket. No grimy stranger hands in there this time.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #666 Share Posted April 24, 2016 The menu: I have to say that I think they did good when they decided to team up with Dr Seuss. NCL did have Nickelodeon, but they have now abolished that contract. They give the kids a "kids menu" that has activities for them to do and on the back, the characters come around and "stamp/sign" their books. The "Things" came out. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #667 Share Posted April 24, 2016 Thing 1 was a hoot and very feisty. Since they are known for their bright blue hair, that was the one thing that Thing 1 seemed to go for with everyone...the hair. It would rub Sakari's head in circles and mess it up and back and forth. It's too bad we were unable to locate her blue wig prior to the cruise for her to wear like last time. She was so excited and happy. The helper kept telling Thing 1 to come on to the next table, but it was too busy still messing with Sakari. From past experience, I have seen the people from the kids club in these costumes (by mistake) and I think they get especially close to the children even when dressed up because they actually know who they are. Oh yea, our food had came just prior to the Things showing up. They thought daddy needed a bib and put it on him.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #668 Share Posted April 24, 2016 Sakari's breakfast: I went all out for the teeth rotting goodness. I couldn't imagine what it would taste like, but had to try it. Cat in the Hat came around next. I really like that they allow you to use your own camera to take pictures at this event. Then along came Sam I Am. The one that daddy had been waiting for!!!
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 24, 2016 Author #669 Share Posted April 24, 2016 The hubby said "I have to have a picture with Sam I Am, just me ok?" LOL He's such a kid at heart. I heard him go up to the character and said "Can I get a picture with you because I'm Sam I Am too!" Our desert When we were done with our breakfast, one of the waiters told us not to leave because there's a "show" they did at the end. A huge majority of people had already left, but I have never seen a show before at the end and I wanted to stay. So, while we were waiting, Sakari want to go around and have her picture taken. One of my most lasting memories as a nurse was taking care of a genleman towards the end , he had neve read Green Eggs and Ham so I found a copy (this was way before I had kids) and read it to him, he wanted to hear this over and over and I obliged, for days,,, I always have had a soft spot for this book. ggirl003 Posted April 25, 2016 #671 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Kim, When you orginally posted about missing the breakfast the day before, I really hoped that you had been correct about the date for your breakfast that you had reserved. YAY!!! So glad you were! Your family seems to be having such a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing. I want to be your best friend and go on a cruise with you. You seem to have such fun : )
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 25, 2016 Author #672 Share Posted April 25, 2016 This is the show they were talking about. Rare mitsugirly Posted April 25, 2016 Author #673 Share Posted April 25, 2016 After breakfast and the "show"...does the fun stop here? Heck no! Let's go watch a movie!!! We raced off to catch the Thrill theater movie. This time we would watch a very short documentary (which was "ok", but of course Sakari LOVED it because of the animals). She ask me if the birds were going to hit her feet again. They didn't, but something else did (I can't remember what it was, maybe butterflies or something?). Sakari headed to the kids club for awhile...why? Because she WANTED to. That was a shocker. I told her we were going to watch another 4d movie and she decided it was time to play with her friends. I guess she had had enough adult time and off she went. We ended up back at the Thrill Theater and watched a cartoon movie, which was neat and I really wished I would have forced Sakari to go to it because it had a new effect this time around. There were bee's stinging and all of a sudden it stung us in our BACK! Something came out and poked us in the back of the chair. LOL That took everyone by surprise. We headed to the casino for about an hour to see if we would have any luck today. After all, it was our last day to make up for lost wages. I won $24.55 on my second spin on a game I had never heard of or tried before. Another small win It just couldn't give me that extra heart could it??? This 3D game was pretty neat, except for the fact that I didn't win crap on it.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 25, 2016 Author #674 Share Posted April 25, 2016 It had been 4 hours since we put any type of morsel in our mouths and that was unacceptable. (Especially if we knew we wouldn't have much of this tonight). We headed out the Jimmy's BBQ to give it a try. I had seen others with plates and it looked good. But every time we had went out on previous days, the line was half way down the ship. Today would be our luck. There was no line and we stepped right up. Give me one of everything because I'mma storing food like I'm a bear about to go into hibernation for the night. The food was super yummy and I wished I would have had more earlier in the week.. We were stuffed and felt like we would never have to eat again on the cruise. We picked up Sakari from the kids club at 2:45pm and of course the buffet had closed by 2:30pm. Sigh. So, hmmm, what should we feed her? Wait, I see something open at the buffet. Could we have lucked out? Of course not...it was a chocolate buffet extravaganza. Ick, I absolutely hate chocolate (not that I was eating) but Sakari isn't that found of it either. Actually I have several kids that don't like chocolate. But, that was her choice and she said she wanted to try it out. We got in line and one of the workers jumped in line behind us with a sign saying it was closed. He would turn away multiple people trying to get in line reinforcing that the line was closed now. However, there were a few people that decided they were going to get in line anyhow and he didn't say a word to them. I kept thinking there were so many people trying to eat that this should tell them something...these times DO NOT WORK FOR PEOPLE! I heard complaint after compliant about no food on the ship and the early closing times. They complained to him, they complained to others in the line. I would see people grab a plate and when he told them it was closed, they would go up in the line and jump in or someone would let them in. At this point, people didn't care what he said, they were going to eat! Just the site of all this chocolate made me wanna hurl.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 25, 2016 Author #675 Share Posted April 25, 2016 I think I would rather lick this ice sculpture than to taste this chocolate stuff. Wait, is that fruit???? Yep, Sakari lucked out. She had found fruit. Of course it was fruit for dipping into chocolate, but we took the fruit and told them to hold the chocolate. I seriously hate those "diet cakes" you see on the ships that look as if they are made from foam. It just looks so disgusting. Sakari said she had these marshmallows during dinner with kids before and liked them. (Pink & Yellow squares) Ok, two things she found that she would like. Not much of a lunch, but hey, it was only another 3 hours and she could be assured to get a good dinner.
