What to do???

If you can find somewhere to check your bags at the airport you can take a bus to Manhattan to do some sightseeing. Of course you would have to take a bus back to the airport to get your bags before heading to the ship. Otherwise, you could just hand out in a restaurant at the airport for a few hours before heading to the pier.

Jerry is right; you could take a bus/shuttle into Manhattan. But I think his second suggestion is even better.

There's going to be a major hassle involved in storing your luggage. You'll probably want to head for the ship by lunchtime. So that leaves 5.5 hours. A half-hour to find a luggage storage facility (if such things even exist post 9/11). Forty five minutes each way for transport and you are down to 3.5 hours.

To me, it is just not worth it. Hang around the airport until about 11:00 and then head for the ship. If your cabin isn't ready, head for the buffet.

I'd find some place to have a nice, leisurely breakfast (consider taking one of the airport hotel shuttles and having breakfast at an airport hotel) and head to the port around 10:30 - 11:00 AM. That way you'll be among the first to board. There isn't really anything to do around the Newark Airport and your luggage adds an additional challenge.

Enjoy your cruise!

If you are flying into Newark.

Call Celebrity. Look into leaving your luggage at the pier.

Then take the lite rail to Liberty state park.

You can catch a ferry to Ellis Island and the statue of liberty.

Lite rail it back.

There may be some walking involved here so bring your walking shoes.

Check out NJtransit.com

and the schedules for the ferry.
