David148 Posted April 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2016 everyone! I need some insight on this topic. I have cruised out of Charleston a few times and I know it's different than other ports as far as dropping luggage off, driving to parking garage and then taking a shuttle to the ship. With all of this how does Carnival offer wheel chair assistance? I am taking mother who has trouble walking and with steps. I contacted specialneedsatsea.com and they can have a wheelchair in the cabin waiting for her. But as far as boarding and debarkation how will this work at this particular port? Her cabin will have FTF if that makes any difference. I also posted this in East Coast Departures, but I know this board is more active and it's Carnival related. :) Thanks, David
lizardhowson Posted April 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Why not go directly to the Port of Charleston website ? (Sorry - CC is scaling down the image - but you can go to the Port FAQ to see it full-size) Edited April 12, 2016 by lizardhowson
reerun25 Posted April 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2016 There is at least 1 shuttle that is wheelchair accessible..
jordanaire Posted April 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2016 I'm not sure what you paid to rent your "scooter" but we used Herbert's Mobility in Charleston when we cruised out of there a couple of years ago. They were the lowest cost. They delivered the rental scooter to the ship (it was there when we arrived at our cabin) and then picked it up after the cruise. They are very familiar with the rules and regulations about bringing a mobility scooter on a Carnival ship, and know exactly which of their scooters will fit through the cabin door (which is required by Carnival). I would give them a call should you change vendors prior to your cruise: (843) 628-7928. My dad had absolutely no problems getting around on the ship with his rental.
