1st timer on RC - Questions

Recommended Posts

Spontaneously booked this evening on Brilliance of the Seas for 10 people (5 cabins).

I am not new to cruising but after sailing on the same line so long, you get used to things you like and I am sorta compiling a list of what is available.

I am pretty internet savvy but I have to say, the RC website needs major help in my opinion. It is not easy to navigate or find the info I need as a newbie to their brand.

So with that said - I just had a few questions that maybe you can help with.

1) Pool Towels - Does RC leave them in their cabin so you have them for port days? Or do I have to go check them out ahead of time? I don't plan on bringing my own

2) Is there is a grill by the pool for Burgers and casual food?

3) Is there a Ben and Jerry's onboard? I see info on google images but not on RC's website

4) Is there Bingo on board? I have a mom and grandmother who enjoy it!

5) Is there live music daily outside at the pool? Is it mostly all day? Love this if so!!

6) Is there a link online anywhere for cocktail prices?

7) Does the English Pub serve food or just drinks? Was curious if there was fish n chips or nibbles in there?

I think that's it for now! Thanks in advance! I adore the planning part of the trip. Helps the clock tick by.

I will answer what I know for sure! I'm sure others will help you out where I cannot.

1. You do not need to bring your own towels. You can check them out at the pool to take ashore with you and most of the time, they have a towel station as you are walking off the ship or actually on the platform walking off the ship. It's very convenient.

2. I'm not sure on this one, depends on the ship and I haven't been on Brilliance.

3. There is one for sure on Adventure of the Seas but I'm not sure about BOS.

4. There was Bingo on our last cruise and everyone seemed to really enjoy it!

5. On days at sea and in the late afternoon, there is a caribbean band playing music and then dance music. Especially around sail away time!

6. Not sure about a link to the prices but from what I've seen, they range from $8-$14 depending on what you get.

7. We LOVE the English Pub (Duck and Dog). They do not have any food though, just drinks. Wish they did because that would be awesome!

I hope you have a great time on your first RC cruise! We love Royal!

1. You can check out pool towels as you leave the ship while in port, as the previous poster said. However, I would suggest you get one from the pool deck the day before and just keep it. That way if it's lost or stolen you don't have to pay for it.

2. I don't know about Brilliance, but on the Serenade (also a Radiance class ship) there was no food by the pool other than Park Cafe, which serves sandwiches, Paninis, and a few other things, but not Burgers/Hotdogs/etc.

3. There was no Ben and Jerry's on the Serenade. You could go to Royal's website and check the deck plans and see if you see one, but I don't think any Radiance class ships have them.

4. Yes.

5. This varies a little depending on the time of day, whether you're in a port or not, and the ship, but generally yes there will be live music by the pool frequently.

6. You can search some recent reviews, you see drink menus posted in them pretty often.

7. On the Serenade the pub only served drinks, unfortunately.

Hi, I have been on Brilliance but it was a Baltic cruise so some things will be different

1. Pool towels were not available for use in ports but as I said it was a Baltic cruise, there were no beach resorts

2. As others have said there is the Park Cafe by the pool just through the doors to the Solarium on the starboard side

3. Nope, no Ben & Jerry's on Brilliance but I think there is a self serve ice cream machine

4. Certainly there should be Bingo

5. We didn't have live music by the pool but again it was a Baltic cruise. There were very few people by the pool because it was cold

6. We tended to stick to the drink of the day or the Happy Hours in Rita's Cantina or the pub

7. No, no food served in the pub but there was live music every day

I hope this helps

Thank you all so much! Huge help!

Appreciate all the answers which were all pretty consistent! :)

It's a beautiful ship and I found the valet parking at the port very convenient and affordable. (Jewel a similar ship was there when I cruised in 2012.

Looking forward to a beautiful ship out of Tampa. We always get old ships because of the Skyway! And yes, we ALWAYS use the valet, so convenient!!
