In the past, I've always just played the slots in the ship's casino, but have recently started to play craps, as I've found it's really not that difficult to understand and IT'S A BLAST!!

 

What I was wanting to find out is ... Does anyone know what the table minimum is for craps in the RCL casinos? Is the minimum always the same, or are there nights where the minimum might be lower? THANKS!

As a long time craps player, they usually have a $5 minimum on the craps table(s). Only 1 table on most ships. Oasis class has 2, 1 smoking, 1 non smoking. That's for pass/don't pass, place betting on the 4/5/9/10, $6 on the 6/8. I think you can take/lay 10x odds, but not sure. Rarely pass bet. $1 C/E or hard ways.

They offer classes throughout the casino prior to opening.

Oasis has 2 tables, $5 min, single odds.

 

I rarely saw anyone playing (not that I blame them with only single odds), and it's not the most fun game to play by yourself.

Also:

The table the first few nights can get crowded after the evening shows. You may find yourself waiting to find a spot on the rail. I like playing with a full table to watch how the dice are flowing (or not)!

I think I have always seen $5 with single odds on RCI.

Best time to go from my past Oasis class experience is from 10 PM - 1 AM, after shows let out.

 

Last few times on Oasis the tables have been packed and full of energy.

Thanks everyone. All the info is extremely helpful and appreciated. I'm surprised that the table minimum is $5 - I expected $10 or $15. $5 is much easier to swallow as a newbie to the game.;)

Fun social game. But keep an eye on the dealers/staff. Craps is a fast game with a lot of bets. While the staff is very nice, they are not overall very skilled. They make a LOT of mistakes. Especially compelling in craps and roulette, where there are potentially many different payouts each time.

My partner decided against craps, but is looking into blackjack and wants to try his hand on the cruise. Hoping to at least break even. I don't want to highjack your thread, but since it's still on topic I hope this is okay.

 

Has anyone had experience on the BJ tables? Are the rules the same, dealer holds at 17? What are the returns (I'm a complete newbie), a $5 is a $10 return if you win? Do they use 8 cards with continuous shuffle? Is there only one table?

 

I'm more of a penny slot player, but plan to watch and play the good luck charm role.:eek::cool:

I believe most tables are dealer stands on soft 17. 1:1 payback on wins, 3:2 on blackjack (not sure if some are 6:5). I believe they use an 8 deck shoe and manually shuffle. Scary part is they use the same cards all week. When the table closes, they just carry the shoe in the back, then bring it back out when it opens up:eek: Not a lot of transparency there.... Hope they didn't accidentally "drop" a couple 10s and Aces in the back:cool:

Single deck Blackjack pays 6 to 5. Otherwise 3-2.

On Freedom back in October it was $6 minimum on Black Jack. $5 standard bet $1 sucker side bet, they encourage the side bet obviously, but you can just put $6 on the standard bet.

That's something that causes me some concern. I'm rather new to craps and have a hard time knowing what the correct payout is. I'll have to enlist the help of my wife to watch. 👍

I've been on a handful of shorter cruises on small ships over the years, and craps has always been a $5 minimum for each ship.

 

For blackjack, I just returned from Indy this week. They did NOT have any $5 (or $6) blackjack tables. Lowest minimum was $10. Eight decks, dealer hits on soft 17, no resplitting aces, and natural blackjacks still pay a proper 3:2. Fortunately that 6:5 hot garbage hasn't made its way over yet.

 

On a side note, I've found some of the coolest RCI employees are the casino dealers. Jelena, Michael, Mattia, and Grace were just some of the awesome individuals I got to play with this past weekend. People - treat your dealers right!

Couldn't disagree with you more. I go to Vegas 3-4 times a year, and those dealers make more mistakes than RCL's.

Don't worry about that, they do a great job of keeping track of bets and doing payouts. Stay in your spot at the craps table, place your chips where they are supposed to go and you won't have any issues. I've seen so many people throw fits about not getting paid correct amount, and they are always wrong.

RCI will almost always allow $20 odds on a $15 5/9, and $25 odds on a $15 6/8.

 

For bread/butter passline and place bets - I have not seen RCI errors any more than other places. But yes, if you get into the Don't side or some of the interesting regression types of play - yea, their experience level shows thru.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. But in my experience, they are far inferior to Vegas dealers at any decent property. Royal trains it's own dealers, and they're are novice at best.

Anyone using words such as "always" are clearly prone to hyperbole. And telling someone not to worry about it as though it's completely impossible for it to happen is just foolish.
