6travelers Posted June 1, 2016 #27 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Sailed the Oosterdam, May 12 thru the 24. We are a family of 7. We rented the family corner cabana, Costa Del Sol and the Santorini double cabana for the length of the cruise. The retreat stewards, beverage manager and hotel manager all informed us we were their first "customers". We have rented these same cabanas on the Noordam, Zuiderdam and the Eurodam. They have changed the layout of the cabanas. The corner family cabanas are now larger. They are the entire corner plus the additional space of a double cabana. There is a large rectangular glass table with four chairs, two chaise lounges and a modular type of couch that that can be moved and rearranged into different seating configurations. The double cabanas seemed to have more space too. They have the same modular couch inside and two chaise lounges outside in the sun. They also have a type of privacy hedge. Artificial privet hedges between the cabanas. They do provide very nice privacy when you are laying in the sun. The new design is quite nice. The fabrics and towels were nice quality. We enjoy this area on the ship and find it is a nice place for our family to congregate and visit.

LA Native Posted October 24, 2016 #30 Share Posted October 24, 2016 in case anyone from post Drydock Oosterdam is checking this old thread, wonder how you feel looking back. am hesitant to take Westerdam first post dry dock voyage 4/27, but it's great itinerary and would be nice to be in a new signature suite. any comments appreciated. our 12 day cruise is port intensive, but do have concerns there could be sane plumbing problems, etc. someone reported no toilet for a day? Uh, what? Thx.
SeaBands Posted October 25, 2016 #31 Share Posted October 25, 2016 so it can only be watched from the bed. Doesn't make sense!
TonyC1952 Posted October 25, 2016 #32 Share Posted October 25, 2016 We were on the Oosterdam the first cruise after dry dock, and our toilet wouldn't work for over 24 hours. HAL moved us temporarily out of our balcony room to an OV for a day and a half, but finally got us back in on the second night. There was ongoing cleanup after the dry dock, but it was not an inconvenience. HAL gave everybody OBC for their troubles, so it all worked out. The Gallery Bar is beautiful, and the mini martinis we had every night there were excellent (Thanks Poli!). Flat screen TVs on the wall were very nice! The Lincoln Center musicians were wonderful, and the venue is just a short stroll from the MDR, so it was a fine place to relax and enjoy the music after dinner. All in all, a great cruise! LuAnn Posted October 26, 2016 #33 Share Posted October 26, 2016 on the Oosterdam quite a bit because she was home ported in San Diego...but that has not been the case for some time now!! I'm wondering what is the general color scheme now after the drydock? The suites look to be grays and blacks...certainly not the bright oranges and reds we saw a number of years ago!! Are the atrium/MDR and other public rooms since the bright colors or are they more muted now?...TBH...I always thought the over-all look of the ship was a little "loud"!!! :o LuAnn
