JanetMarie Posted May 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Can you guys/gals tell me more about the outdoor movies on the new Caribbean? Do you need reservations? How is the sound? Etc. Thanks! SeaPA Posted May 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2004 We were on the CP last week; the seetup for the movies that week were as follows: On two nights, they showed Somethings Gotta Give at 7:30 & 9:30; on 2 nights they showed Intolerable Cruelty at 7:30 & 9:30. For all of these shows, you DID need a reservation. You simply called the Guest Services desk & the tickets were delivered to your door. From what I could tell, there was plenty of space/seating at all showings - they require you to get a ticket so people don't just stroll around/talk & disturb those who actually want to see the show. They set up all of the lounge chairs in the area to face the screen, cover them with some type of cloth (I assume it is waterproof to prevent you from sitting down on a still-wet lounge chair), and provide blankets in case it is chilly. On a couple of other nights, they showed a some concert films - Tina Turner one night, Tom Jones the other. No reservations were required for these shows. The pool & hot tub are closed during the movies, again to prevent disturbance to those watching the movie. This pool area closes at 5:30 on the main movie nights to allow staff to clean up & get the chairs set up. The sound system was fine, no problems hearing the movie. Not surround-sound Dolby quality like you get in an actual theatre, but no problems hearing the dialogue in the movie.

joanne1 Posted May 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2004 I seem to recall someone commenting on it running during the day. Can you tell me how that works? what do they play? If this is true, does this eliminate the pool band? SeaPA Posted May 7, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2004 During the day (late in the afternoon) they typically played some music videos on the screen; mostly country music (Toby Keith & similar styles). The videos I saw were all tame stuff that would not be objectionable to families. The main movies at night were unedited, same verrsion as you'd have seen in the theatre. I don't know what those 2 movies were rated but don't remember anything highly objectionable in either of them. They do keep the open area roped off such that you have to be inside the pool area (i.e. with a ticket) to be able to see the screen much at all. Walking through the covered area a child would be able to hear the audio of the movie.
Ghost Posted May 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2004 When we were on the 4/10 Carib. Princess cruise, they showed a sing-along version of "The Wizard of Oz" and also a Beatles movie plus Tina Turner and Diana Krall concerts, in addition to "Something's Gotta Give" and "Master & Commander" Kathy

SF Posted May 8, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2004 We have second seating so the 7:30 movie wouldn't work. Is there enough time to get to 9:30 movie? I forgot what time second seating dinner is. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004><param name="month" value=07><param name="day" value=17><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Navigator of the Seas 7/17/2004 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004><param name="month" value=12><param name="day" value=26><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Jewel of the Seas 12/26/2004 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2005><param name="month" value=02><param name="day" value=26><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Caribbean Princess 2/26/2005
cruisingfreak Posted May 8, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Second seating for dinner is 8:30PM. I thought I had read, the second movie started at 10:30PM. That way the late seaters, could get to see it. As we'll be doing late seating on the Caribbean in July, I hope that's what it is. Minette
