mamawsnest Posted May 4, 2016 #76 Share Posted May 4, 2016 We were on the Valor the week before drydock and asked our room steward the same thing. They still work because some of the workers live in he rooms so things go on as normal. Some of the food places are still open so the workers can eat, rooms cleaned etc. I had not thought about that. lisaaa48 Posted May 4, 2016 #77 Share Posted May 4, 2016 This is kind of making me nervous! I am on the first cruise out after the dry dock and I am really hoping for it to go smoothly!
poz222 Posted May 4, 2016 #78 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Even though this is a huge drydock, everything is moving along according to schedule... So don't worry... Gonna look nice for everyone! For those that asked, staff (entertainment, kids club, most USA/Canada staff (which is only a handful) go home. The crew (engine, waiters, bar staff, everyone else) stay on. They are put as cleanup crews, do grunt work, and most are put on fire watch. Cooks and laundry still have to do,their jobs for the contractors and some cabin stewards are doing their normal duties for the contractors who, stay in the cabins. There are jobs for all! This drydock there are like 2700 contractors and 800 crew they have day and night shifts and work is done 24/7.

Daonlyone2000 Posted May 6, 2016 #86 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Thank you for the pictures and the information on how things work during dry dock. I figured people were working 24/7 with so many things to be done. I just didn't realize the amount of people that would be working. Do you happened to know what kind of work is being done to the cabins?
poz222 Posted May 6, 2016 #87 Share Posted May 6, 2016 She is looking all pretty with her new bottom! Ready for the water! She should be floating by this afternoon! Everything else is finishing touches and Cleanup mode. She is right on target for timeline... Offload the trash and containers, re-load the lifeboats and shine and polish and wash! She should be pretty for everyone boarding in a few days!! For the cabins, they all got new matrasses, curtains and covers laundered, carpets deep cleaned and replaced where needed, flat screen TVs installed, balcony floors sanded and redone and general touch-up but no major changes in overall designs. poz222 Posted May 6, 2016 #94 Share Posted May 6, 2016 I don't have anyone onboard the sunshine drydock... Sorry... For the Laundry, I really don't know 100% but I think it is still coins, but you can get coins through the sign and sail cards using the casino I would guess? hirent Posted May 6, 2016 #99 Share Posted May 6, 2016 I am pretty sure we lost Tandoori to get Guys Burger Joint. It is no longer listed as a dining option for the Valor on Carnival's website. The Valor never had the 'Tandoor'. The only 5 ships that originally had 'Tandoor' were the Freedom, Splendor, Dream, Magic and Breeze. Out of these, the Freedom lost it when they installed Guy's Burgers. The other 4 ships still have it. The Magic and Breeze are the only two ships to have both, Tandoor and Guy's.
