Sujormik Posted April 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2016 We are going on the ship-offered excursion to the Alhambra, didn't want to risk traffic delays or whatever in trying to go solo, but I'm curious about the day. I know it is a long ride from the port to the site, but that's an 8:00 am to 10:00 pm day....is the entire day spent on the excursion or is there free time/down time to do other things, get a meal, etc.? I hope these aren't ridiculous questions, just truly don't know what to expect. Thanks.
Host Walt Posted April 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2016 We seldom book shore excursions offered by the cruise line but we did on a Princess cruise where the Alhambra trip was set to go from Malaga at 7:00am. They included a lunch break and a tour of the Generalife gardens as well as rest stops both ways on the bus. We opted for the ship sponsored trip (at $25@ higher price than the Spanish Day Tours but liked the absence of any concern about an unexpected delay of some kind messing things up. Dunno if WS will provide a meal on board but, knowing them, I'll bet they will.
Sujormik Posted April 28, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted April 28, 2016 Yes we chose the ship's tour for the same reason. I'm so unclear about how these things work! Thanks for responding.

I recall beginning fairly early in the day and a very nice lunch in a restaurant was included. I'm also fairly sure we were back by late afternoon, certainly time to relax awhile and get turned around well before dinner.
milepig Posted April 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2016 Dunno if WS will provide a meal on board but, knowing them, I'll bet they will. Even when WS does not provide a meal they will have sandwiches available in the Yacht Club that you can take with you if you want. If a tour gets back after lunch is finished you can also grab something then, or order room service.
