Oasis post cruise- Ft Lauderdale or Hollywood Beach with kids?

Recommended Posts

We are cruising Oasis in October out of Ft. Lauderdale and we have never been there before. We are trying to figure out where to stay for a few days post cruise. Ft Lauderdale or Hollywood Beach? We have three kids ages 3, 14, and 17. Are there any pros/cons or one place that is geared more towards families?

I don't have prior experience to share but... we (just adults) are staying precruise at Margaritaville in Hollywood this October. It is pricey but looks to be in a good location and family friendly with lots to do.

We've stayed at a few places up and down the beach between Ft Lauderdale and Port Everglades. They all have pools and nice beaches, what more could the kids want!

If you wanted to change your itinerary a little bit, you could rent a car and drive up to Orlando and stay at one of the Universal properties. That place is a blast for all ages. Return the car, fly out of Orlando and go home!

Hi, We've stayed in both areas, but when we had all the Family with us, we stayed at The Marine Villas in Hollywood.....Steps away from a nice Beach and The Kids Loved it. You also have a long stretch of The Boardwalk with lots of Restaurants, shops, etc. Mark

We have stayed in both locations and for a family, I like the atmosphere of Hollywood Beach a smidge more. At Hollywood Beach we have stayed at the Riptide, the Neptune and Margaritaville. You have to be aware that many of the hotels on Hollywood Beach are older- and they are cute and quaint, but they can be quirky- so they are great if you don't mind that. Margaritaville was awesome! They have kids activities, two pools and a fun atmosphere. The Marriott on Hollywood Beach is also very nice, but we have not yet stayed there. One nice pre-cruise hotel we stayed at on Fort Lauderdale Beach was the Marriott Harbor Beach. This one would be good for a family- but the downside of this one is that it was not easily walk-able to restaurants, shops, etc. As the previous poster mentioned- either beach you can't really go wrong- I love them both!
