Cruise-Crazy Posted April 29, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I just bought $150 of Carnival GiftCards for $135! Their in-store Purple discount flyer, available at the front door has a coupon. Publix makes you pay with debit card or cash as they won't let you put more than $50 on a giftcard with your credit card. You also have to purchase at least $50 worth of groceries in order to purchase it. I made the mistake of buying $100 of groceries. Should have bought two lots of groceries and made myself eligible for TWO Carnival coupons! Duh! I've always been able to buy gift cards on a credit card at the Publix I shop at. jakesnana Posted April 29, 2016 #29 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Not quite as good as the last Publix offer I got ($15 off $100 gift card), but still better than nothing. FWIW, when I purchase the last ones, I was able to put them on my bill with my groceries and paid the entire thing with my credit card. I get them and put them onto my onboard account, then I use the money in the casino for the slots :) I get credit card points and a 10% discount on my casino play !!!! Namelocg Posted April 29, 2016 #30 Share Posted April 29, 2016 If you wanted to see something funny you should have seen me in Publix a little while ago. I don't usually shop there because it is way more expensive than Walmart or Aldi but I wanted the gift card. I was walking around with my calculator checking out all the BOGO's. I now have enough laundry detergent, olive oil, cat litter and cereal to last till next year, but I got my gift cards, lol!!!!!
Tracey/Thom Posted April 29, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Happy to help! This forum has been SO HELPFUL to us, it's great to give back. And I just called Carnival, gave them the GiftCard number, and prepaid my gratuities - one less thing to have on the bill when I get off the ship. Muumuu Posted April 30, 2016 #32 Share Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Have never seen this advertised by our South Carolina Publix stores. Yes, they are here. I purchased some at the Wade Hampton store in Greenville Edited April 30, 2016 by Muumuu
quickrate Posted April 30, 2016 #33 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Thank you everyone for the heads up! Headed there today to buy my first one, second one tomorrow, third one the next day. I've been chasing the Verizon gift cards as well as AARP and those are hard to catch in stock. these offer the same value and a lot easier to get. DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted April 30, 2016 #34 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Too bad Carnival doesn't allow you to pay for the Cheers! package ahead of time, using gift cards. We are about to make our purchase for the Vista in December and every little bit saved helps. I believe you can pre purchase the Cheers package now. cruizinisthebest Posted April 30, 2016 #35 Share Posted April 30, 2016 I believe you can pre purchase the Cheers package now. You can pre-purchase Cheers, but you can't use gift cards for it. Fun shops and Bon Voyage purchases of any kind must be paid for with a credit card. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
jakesnana Posted May 1, 2016 #36 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Purchased my gift card on Friday. Previous poster was correct, Publix now limits the amount of gift card you can put on a credit card to $50.00, however, the cashier I worked with was AMAZING. She let me purchase 3 $50.00 gift cards in separate transactions and applied the $15.00 savings to the last card. I got the $150 in gift cards for $135 and was still able to use my credit card for the points. AWESOME !!! I LOVE Publix :)

It took a managers help so I'll recommend not going at rush hours. I tried to get the scoop at customer service before attempting, and picked up the 3 seperate cards. The cashier tried to put them all in one transaction and that is what made it not work. I had $50 in groceries with one $50 gift card and $15 coupon off. Then 2 seperate $50 gift card transactions. Glad my CC company didn't flag it or the folks behind me would have gone berserk.
richfret Posted May 2, 2016 #40 Share Posted May 2, 2016 After reading about this, I dashed down to my local Publix to purchase a gift card since I sail on Saturday. I bought the $150 gift card and paid $100 in cash and the remaining $35 and the groceries (needs to be over $50.00) on a charge. Did have one problem, however, They are still not set up for handling this type transaction using a chip charge card. It took several minutes and several attempts before it went through. Had several people in the line behind me leave for other registers. The cashier (and Store Manager) did get it through, however, and I ended up with 4 receipts before it all ended. Note I am not complaining and was happy to get the discount. Just thought I would mention it if you are contemplating doing this transaction. Might mention also that their is a deadline to this offer.
Cruise-Crazy Posted May 2, 2016 #41 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Yeah.... Went and bought two cards today and found the rules had changed. Only $50 gift cards on a CC. The manager said that went into affect about a month ago.
im4clowns Posted May 2, 2016 #42 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Got three 150 gift cards this weekend at publix. Used my debit card. Bit tricky with one of them. They have a hard time using two febit card for one transaction. My sister had the 50 in groceries and let me use the coupon. I paid for the gift card with my debit but the cashier had a hard time with the transaction. It worked though.

im4clowns Posted May 3, 2016 #44 Share Posted May 3, 2016 Went to publix to get gift cards for teacher appreciation. First thing they asked, are you using debit? Luckily I was.
