Drinks package

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Sorry if this has been brought up before!

We get a free select package with our cruise. If we were to "upgrade" onboard would we have to pay the full price of the new package or the difference? Also does anyone known if Amaretto is served onboard and whether that will be included in the ultimate package.

We will be sailing on Brilliance out of Barcelona.

Thanks

Yes Amaretto is definitely available, on our winter cruises we often start the day on top deck with a coffee from cafe promenade, which the chaps behind the pool bar happily add a shot of Amaretto (Disaronno) to-lovely!

Hi. I called RC but am unsure about the 18%. Is it the total full price package or on the difference? The lady at RC said to check in here 😀😀😀😀

People have reported having to pay only the difference when upgrading.

The Amaretto is even included with the premium package. Which is cheaper than the Ultimate package. Just something to think about.

On ovation now the difference is $20 upgrade Premium 25$ to ultimate & 18% gratuities

Ridiculous. Should only be a $10 difference from Select to Premium.

Just looked online and it's showing as €10 difference between select and premium.

Even though that is less than the difference on board, it's still higher than it should be. The difference should be $11.80 per day, including gratuity, and with the current exchange rate, the 10 GBP difference comes to $14.50 per day.

Am I right in saying that when you buy a drink that is higher than your package allows you only pay the difference with RC rather than the full amount like you do with Celebrity?

If so I will do that rather than upgrade to those ridiculous prices on board.

Now I know why they wont let you upgrade before hand from the "free" select package.

My first cruise in July with RC may well be my last.

You are correct, Royal will charge only the difference (plus 18%) if you order a drink that has a higher cost than the package allows.

Just be aware that cocktails are not included in the Select package, so any cocktail you take will incur the full price.

Thanks to all that answered my question.

vanessa have a look at the flyer posted here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2351645

$64 +18% the amount RC are charging varies quite a bit by different sailings, as someone said "they are charging what they can get away with".

Even $15 sounds to much.

The million dollar question: Are drink prices on Ovation higher than on other ships.

On Adventure, I paid $49 a day for the Premium package, standard drinks were $10 each, martinis and such were $12 each. From my understanding, this is generally the case fleet-wide.

Ovation's package price would make sense if standard drinks are $13 and martinis are $15.50. Otherwise, not so much.
