Ok. I posted that we were bumped and burned. The problem is that X has not notified us officially of the charter. I did call them and was told it was an Atlantis charter. They specialize in gay and lesbian cruises.

Had the same on constellation last Nov:

we got 50US OBC on the next cruise

lesson learned: check the web page, if they ad the cruise you are interested in - if yes - don't book it

Thats the nice thing on german law - the contract is binding for both parties.

If I'll cancel I'll loose my deposit

If the cruise line cancel - they have to pay extra....it's called "for lost holiday"

Had this with MSC divina 2 years ago - in the end I've 500 bucks more and the sailing was more than a year out....

If flights are booked, the cruisline has to pay the cancelation fee in full....

X paid for that already, as they changed starting port on a transatlantic...

  • 1 month later...

I just returned from a cruise with a large group booking (900). It was not a charter, obviously, but it did affect my cruise experience slightly. Would I have changed my cruise if I'd known? No. This was the right cruise for us.

The main ways we were affected were 1) dining reservations hard to get, 2) half of food in buffet was for the group (but open to us to try if we liked -- some of it was quite tasty), 3) various areas of the ship being closed off for group events. All in all it wasn't a big deal to be a little inconvenienced and we found the folks in the group to be respectful, polite, and classy.
