Your Breeze/Magic Upper Deck 6 Aft Cabin Experience?

Hey all,

We have two inside cabins on deck 6 back in the aft and I'm wondering if anyone had trouble with engine noise or noise from the comedy club or nightclub nearby? I'm trying to decide if we should move more to the middle (unfortunately the casino is somewhat below you) or if we should just move down to the main deck. Also, if we do stick to being above the spotlight lounge (if noise isn't an issue) how was getting around when you're that far back? I imagine it's nice to be one level from promenade for convenience.

Any thoughts and experiences would be great!

No experience, but my thoughts are to move up to deck 7. There are some spots on deck 6 that are fine as far as noise goes, but this is one of the spots that I just wouldn't trust. Deck 7 is sandwiched between cabin decks, which is a good thing. It shouldn't be much more money to move up one sub-category. If you are able to move down to deck 2, and you decide to do that, don't get any cabins between the midship & aft elevators, as those are below the noisy galley. Below a dining room is best.

I don't mind being far aft or far forward, for getting around the ship. It's not that incredibly far to walk, but I do prefer midship.

We were just on the Breeze, balcony 6433. We were, literally, right above the bbq, we didnt have any hall noise, or anything above or below. We were close to the aft elevators, walked back there frequently and never noticed too much vibration. But, it certainly could be different having a cabin there.

We just booked the Carnival Magic aft staterooms 6507 & 6474 on deck 6 today for the March 25, 2017 sailing. The aft staterooms on deck 7 were already all sold. I too had a concern about any noise from the lounge below deck 6. Sailed a previous time above a bar/lounge and the music was Boom-Boom-Boom until 2 am. Any feedback please? ;)

Looks like you booked 2 aft-balconies. On our Breeze cruise in January, I stayed in room 6460, an extended balcony, which would be right around the corner from the rooms you've booked. I read soooooo much feedback about how noisy it would be, how I would hear the passengers on the promenade below, how the smoke would be a problem, since I was port-side, etc... I was directly above the Comedy Club, as you will be too. Honestly, it was the best room I have ever stayed in. There were zero passengers on the promenade below me - they were much further down, mid-ship. I could not hear the club below even one time. I did, however, hear what I think was the bass from the dance club a couple of times, but it was very faint. This location was extremely convenient for me & the room was amazing. My only complaint was the exhaust smell that I occasionally experienced. But it was not enough to ruin my experience - in fact, I booked this same deck/location for our upcoming Magic cruise. Just goes to show that different people can stay in the exact same location and have completely different experiences!

You were not actually above the comedy club. You were above the steakhouse. So it makes sense that you wouldn't hear any noise from below you. That would be empty all night long & most of the day. Even when the steakhouse is being used, you probably wouldn't hear anything, because that isn't a loud venue. Chazadaza will actually be below the comedy club (and the OP might also be), so they may hear the noise from the comedy sessions. On nights without comedy, they usually do karaoke in there, which will probably be louder.

For Chazadaza, if you haven't already, check on deck 8. Those are also sandwiched between staterooms. Deck 9 would have the aft pool area above it, so possible chair scraping noises from above there. If you tend to stay up late anyway, you might be fine with deck 6. But if you go to bed early & wake up early, deck 9 would be better than deck 6.

We are booking tomorrow, hopefully. We will need 4 rooms all in a row, with one of the rooms sleeping 3 people. There are only 2 spots I can find available for that to work.

Deck 6 forward/front. Rooms 6251, 6253, 6259, 6261. It's directly over the ovation theater, and under other cabins.

Or, there's Deck 9 aft. Rooms 9458, 9462, 9466, 9470. It's directly over other rooms, but directly under the back of the Lido deck.

I'm leaning toward Deck 6..... Hopefully it's a good choice!

With these being interiors, it would seem like a clear choice for deck 6 here. But we need to consider how you cruise. Are you early to bed, early to rise? If so, being above the theater will not be good, since the shows might run until 11:00-11:30. Deck 9 might be better. But if you're up passed 11:00 anyway, then deck 6 is definitely the way to go. Keep in mind that they sometimes do rehearsals in the afternoon or maybe late mornings. None of those would be a factor for me, so I would take deck 6. Those deck 9 rooms are right next to the pool & under a hot tub or deck chairs. Early morning chair-scraping sounds, plus noise throughout the day.

I was all set for deck 6. It seemed perfect. However, my father is going with us, and he's VERY much an early to bed early to rise kind of guy. So he vetoed 6, my kids vetoed 9. We ended up on 7, with my 3 older kids in one room slightly down the hallway from us. (about 8 rooms down from ours). So not too bad.

Not sure when you're sailing but my Husband and I are on the Breeze in September and we have Room 6261 booked....I can give you an update when we return! :)

We had an aft "L-shaped" balcony on the Breeze - #6468, in late September, 2015, and heard no noise from the Comedy Club below. I'd have no hesitation booking after on deck 6 again. No issues for us, at all.

You were not above the comedy club. You were above the steakhouse, so it makes sense that you would not hear any noise from below. The steakhouse is empty all night long & for most of the day. Even when it's being used, it's not a noisy venue, so you probably wouldn't hear anything then either. So that room is definitely a safe one for noise. But if you go to the other side of the ship, those L-shaped rooms might very well have a ton of noise coming through from the comedy club/karoke below, late into the night. Same for many of the other aft rooms. So choose carefully if you decide to book the aft of deck 6 again on Breeze. 6468 & 6460 are certainly safe, in addition to the next few rooms up from those, as they are above the steakhouse.

Thanks for catching my mistake - Now that I look back, we were over the Steakhouse, as you pointed out. I'm pretty sure that I booked that cabin purposely to avoid noise from below.

6468 was very quiet, and I'd book it again. The aft interior cabins do appear to be right over the Comedy Club, and subject to midnight noise, if you're a light sleeper.

Just got back off the Magic. We stayed in 6449 and the noise at night was horrible. It never even dawned on me to check the location of the cabin in relationship to the night club which was obviously my mistake. The first four nights we were up until around 4:00am. If you can sleep regardless of noise then perhaps it wouldn't be a problem. If you're a light sleeper then you're likely going to be in trouble. To Carnival's credit (my wife complained to guest services for four days straight) they credited us nearly $700 for the two cabins we booked. At the time I would've gladly traded the $ for a decent night's sleep. So if you're a light sleeper I would stay away from any room in the 6440's or 6450's. If you do book one of these rooms I would suggest earplugs, headphones and Ambien : )

Thank you for your report. Your room was over the walkway outside the nightclub, but that noise does make its way out to that walkway & clearly into those rooms above. Imagine how it would have been if you were in an interior room directly above the heart of the noise! I'm glad you were able to get a credit.

  • 10 months later...

Last November we had an aft extended balcony on the Magic's Deck 6. There was noise at night after midnight from the club below. Since the noise level can be subjective, what keeps one person awake may allow another one to sleep.

What was worse was that no matter which way the ship was heading, we never had any shade on the balcony, so we couldn't use it more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time before we felt roasted.
