Disembarkation Day - Venice

Hi,

We must disembark on the day that we fly out and the Oosterdam-Venice ship tours will not take you unless you fly out after 5pm. Our flight departs at 3.45ish and so we need to be at the airport no later than 1pm to be safe, I would think. I gather the latest we can be off the ship is around 9-9.30, so with all our luggage we would very much appreciate some suggestions. Does anyone know of a tour that we could do that would get us to the airport for just after lunch? We can get up and get off the ship earlier if need be.This is our second trip to Venice as we had 3 days in 2009 so have seen the main tourist attractions. Any suggestions as to what we can to do with our time would be great. I don't fancy spending half a day at the airport! We will have two big,two small cases and handbags etc as have been travelling for 6 weeks All suggestions appreciated?.

Can you easily manage your luggage to walk several blocks? if so, you could take the People Mover (monorail) from the pier to Piazzale Roma. At P Roma there is a left luggage facility to park your bags for a few hours. Expensive tho ... 7e per bag.

The Grand Canal is only 2 blocks away from the left luggage if you want to find a place for a coffee.

When you've collected your luggage, the ATVO express bus leaves from PRoma. A 15-20 minute ride to the airport for 8 E pp. It's a big comfortable bus with a luggage hold underneath. Or a taxi will be 45/50E.

If you can't manage your luggage there is a shuttle bus from the pier to PRoma but no schedule .... you kinda luck into it. Or once the wave of passengers has left you might find a taxi who would be willing to take you for the 5 minute drive to PRoma.

Another option to kill time is to take the alilaguna .... it's basically a long boat ride around the island and to the airport. But you've sure got the time .... The Blue Line leaves from the pier, takes 90 minutes to reach the airport, and costs about 15E I believe. Stay on the cruiseship until the kick you off then catch the alilaguna around 11am.

I'm sure you 'll get other suggestions as well.
