Can anyone recommend which of these two Princess cruises to take?

Irish Counties Scottish Highlands & Edinburgh Tattoo OR British Isles (with Kirkwall) we plan on going end of July 2016.

THanks so much for your help.

Hi,

Can I suggest you post the ports (incl embarkation port) and any significant differences in number of days & prices.

Any reviews on Princess Cruise to British Isle with Kirkwall with the following ports: Leaving July 31 2016

Ports: London (Southampton), England | Guernsey (St. Peter Port), England | Cork, Ireland (Cobh - For Blarney Castle) | Dublin, Ireland | Belfast, Northern Ireland | Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland | Orkney Islands (Kirkwall), Scotland | Invergordon, Scotland | Edinburgh (South Queensferry), Scotland | Paris/Normandy (Le Havre), France

Thanks again,

There is review of the May 8th sailing now on the Princess forum which went to all those ports except LeHarve because of a labor strike. It's a really nice review of the trip.

A couple of heads-up.........

Southampton is about 90 minutes from London's airports, or 2 hours from central London.

Guernsey is in the Channel Islands - check their location on a map & you'd think they were part of France. British, but with a dash of France thrown-in.

The big question-mark for Guernsey is that it's a tender port, quite often missed if Atlantic swells are too high for safe transfer to tenders.

Le Havre is over 2 hours from Paris, & although most ships remain in port until mid-evening the day is still far too short to do Paris justice. So if you want to spend more time in Paris.........

Since it's the last port-of-call (disembarkation in Southampton next morning) a lot of cruisers choose to disembark in Le Havre (permission required but never been a problem) to spend a few days in Paris before flying home from there. By booking flights as open-jaw (aka multi-city) return tickets - rather than two one-way tickets - the cost will be midway between that of return tickets to London & Paris.

Add a few days pre-cruise in London - or elsewhere in England if you've been to London before.

As usual, England is seriously under-represented in this Round-Britain cruise

Hello Tair

I think the main difference between the two cruises is actually the ship. Pacific Princess is the smaller of the two ships and therefore visits some ports which larger ships cannot access. However it is an older ship than Caribbean Princess and being smaller it has fewer amenities. What kind of ship do you prefer?

The big bonus I guess with Pacific is that you get 2 days in Dublin and also in Edinburgh. This means and have the option of going to the Tattoo and enjoying the Edinburgh Festivals and fringe. However I love the cabins on Caribbean Princess especially the balconies on C deck

Tattoo is every year

the biggest difference is the price last time I looked.

PAcific can be close to double.

Anther difference is

Pacific can do the Tattoo from Rosyth

Caribbean does it from Greenock (tenders for EDI)
