aneka Posted May 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2016 We will arrive in Amsterdam on Wed July 13th off Oceania's Nautica. We are docked from 0800-1800 hrs. We would like to visit the Van Gogh museum, the Hermitage Museum and maybe do a canal cruise. Can someone recommend the order to visit and the route we should travel. Is it possible to get to these sites by the tram from the cruise docks, or should we take a taxi? Thanks for your help.
Ine Posted May 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2016 Everything in Amsterdam is not that far away. Probably best to start with van Gogh as during the day lines can be long. Check their website, you can make time reservations online and skip the long lines. From the cruise terminal tramnr. 26 to Centraal station or a 10 minutes walk. From CS to Museumplein/Van Gogh tramnr. 5 or 16. From there go to Hermitage by tram/metro, walk or cab. Tramnr 7 to Weesperplein, metro to Waterlooplein, walk from there. On the way back metro from Waterlooplein to Centraal Station or walk. Either via de RLD, or Rokin and Damrak to Centraal Station. Opposite Centraal Station - not too far from the cruise terminal you have some choices in canalboat rides. Most of them last about 1 hour. Ine Posted May 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2016 Is there a place to buy Tram tickets at the cruise terminal? I remember the Amsterdam tourist board/Holland tourist information has or used to have a small outfit in the terminal, so yes they might be able to help you with this. Otherwise you can buy a daycard E. 7,50 valid for all buses and trams at tramnr. 26 while boarding. (In that case you need Euros). http://en.gvb.nl/gvb-dag-meerdagenkaart
