TNShadyLady Posted August 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2016 For the first time we'll be cruising in what is "officially" hurricane season, Carnival Valor out of Port Canaveral on Sept. 30, 8 days eastern Caribbean. I have searched and cannot seem to find any definitive info other than the itinerary could possibly be changed. I don't want to seem like a Nervous Nellie but I'd like to know a little more than that. For instance, if a hurricane threatens the Port Canaveral area and our trip is delayed or postponed or even cancelled by Carnival, are we fully reimbursed for it, given full credit for a future cruise, or does that fall under trip insurance? Should we take any extra precautions during hurricane season, such as rain gear, motion sickness pills, etc.? While we're looking forward to visiting some new ports, I confess I wouldn't mind a full 8 days at sea if that's what it takes to stay away from bad weather! Give me sunshine and open skies and seas and I'm happy. I know the captain and crew are not going to put either the boat or the passengers in jeopardy if they can prevent it, but still there's a part of me that is going to worry anyway. Any advice from you seasoned travelers who have been through it all?
TNShadyLady Posted August 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2016 ^^Never mind. I finally found a thread about hurricanes. It wasn't where I expected it to be, but better late than never. :)
