Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #101 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Labadee is one of our 4 favorite stops. It is truly a beautiful beach area. It is hard to choose favorite pictures... so maybe this is where "too many" comes in. On a positive note, you can have your pick of which one to choose as a desktop background if you are counting down the days to Allure ;)
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #102 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Here is a map of Labadee. The best places to get great pictures of the ship are from the very end of Columbus Cove, or by turning right after you enter the port. Keep walking until you get close to where the small boats load for excursions. There is little foot traffic, and you can get a picture without photobombers. The two areas are indicated by the yellow arrows: The last picture in the previous post was taken from the far end of Columbus Cove. This one is from the areas where excursion boats load: Arawak Water Park: Nellie's Beach: (You can walk through Nellies Beach to Columbus Cove as a short cut. This is also a way to avoid the pushy vendors.) Another area of Columbus Cove: Edited May 30, 2016 by APDMOM tips
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #103 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) A few more views of Labadee... I only walked around Nellie's Beach and Columbus Cove this time around. If you would like more tips of the other areas, look at my review of Navigator. We did not do any excursions this time around. I do have one other tip: If you plan on getting a Labadoozie, order it from the bar so that it can be fresh and frozen. I got one a few years ago, but it had been sitting around and I did not enjoy it, so I did not understand the hoopla. Since I had the drinks package, I went to the Columbus Cove bar and got one freshly made in a non-souvenir cup. There was a big difference in taste! Now I understand they are good (but still not as good as my new favorite, the love connection). When you walk to Columbus Cove through Nellie's Beach, you walk right past the slide: The truck with the brave zipliners: Beautiful Labadee: So, what do you do when you are from Florida, cruising on Allure, and not big on beaches? You take your pictures, and return to the "quiet" ship: Edited May 30, 2016 by APDMOM tip
packercruising Posted May 30, 2016 #104 Share Posted May 30, 2016 TIP: if you find a waiter pair that you like, they will try to seat you with them every night. We really liked Bien and Raj, so I can recommend them! This is how we do it and we love it! If you get a table and servers you really like, request them the next time. We have almost always been able to do that. Another nice thing about it is that other people that like to eat at the same time you do, will quite often do the same thing and you meet some really nice people that way. Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #105 Share Posted May 30, 2016 One of the great things about everyone enjoying Labadee is that we have the pools "almost" to ourselves. Explore the pool decks with me... H2O Zone:

Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #107 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Between the kids pool and the beach pool is the towel station. Don't forget to pick up your towel before you leave the ship for the beach. It would even be good to pick it up the day before, as the line can get long if you try to get a towel right before leaving the ship. Remember, they do scan your card and enter the number of towels you take. If you do not return them, you may incur a charge for the towel. mikechass Posted May 30, 2016 #110 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Really enjoying this review. I love the tips! We have done lots of cruises but its nice to see how some others think when it comes to tricks and tips. Thanks for taking the time to do this! Its made my Monday much more enjoyable. Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #111 Share Posted May 30, 2016 The spa did not see me this time, as I no longer participate in the "sales pitch" raffle. My mom enjoys that, so when she is with me, we still attend, but it is just not something I enjoy. I did stop by to take a few pictures. Unfortunately, I could never find the fitness center deserted, so I did not take pictures there.
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #112 Share Posted May 30, 2016 We attended the Oceanaria Aqua Show on day 3. The talent is amazing, and I wish I could bring my cousin (who was a diver) on one of these cruises. Unfortunately, she lives in Namibia. Oh, look! It's Tim (Not Matt). Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #113 Share Posted May 30, 2016 That wraps up day 3, as every evening ended with us on the balcony to enjoy the ocean and fresh air. I will start posting about day 4 later today. :)
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #114 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Good morning, on day 4 of our Allure Cruise. This is the view from my favorite aft spot on deck 5: Cappuccino in one hand, camera in the other, feet up.... aaaah! This is cruising!
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #115 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Day 4 brought us to Falmouth, Jamaica. We have been to this port several times during the past 2 years, so the choice to make Jamaica day a ship day was easy. We enjoyed the minigolf and pools, and wandered around the ship looking for Small Wonders. Stay tuned to learn more about those... For now, explore the sport deck with me... Since my pictures are mixed for the days to keep the sports ones together, some of these were taken in Labadee. Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #116 Share Posted May 30, 2016 ...and since my husband will not remember it - I have to state here, for the record, that I got a hole-in-one on my very first shot on Allure's minigolf! We don't need to elaborate on the rest of my minigolf "non-career..." All the sports tools are readily available. Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #118 Share Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Tip: Oasis class ships have these things called "Small Wonders". They are viewers all around the ship where you can look at art from a different perspective. We stopped by guest services, and got a printout of all the small wonders and stereoscopic viewers on the ship. Thus started our own family treasure hunt. Here are some things we saw on our adventure: This is what the Small Wonders and Stereoscopic Viewers look like: Here is the list and location of the viewers: Edited May 30, 2016 by APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #119 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Speaking of family adventures... we have a tradition to "walk the decks". As we literally walk each deck from forward to aft, starboard to port, aft to forward, etc., we explore the art and any locations we may otherwise miss. Now, we did not quite cover all the decks on Allure (I see another flimsy excuse to book another Allure cruise right there!), but we did find quite a few things that were interesting to us. I will share a few here: This one is a favorite! Our son asked on this one, "Why didn't they make one for the Eiffel Tower?" LOL! I'm thinking nobody wants to cut and keep track of all those tiny pieces!

Rare APDMOM Posted May 30, 2016 Author #122 Share Posted May 30, 2016 APD Mom- Random question- You suggested getting beach towels the day before a port day. Are pool towels not l ft in your cabin? Loving your review! Sent from my iPad using Forums Hi! Thanks for reading along! No, the pool towels have to be checked out from the towel station. I am sure Royal had to resort to this system since they probably lost a lot of towels in the past when people carelessly left them at beaches. So, they are now checked out with your seapass. They also tell you that you will be charged if the towels are not returned. Enjoy planning your cruise!
