bdfred Posted June 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2016 We used Icelandair from Copehagen to Iceland with a 4 day stopover before continuing to Toronto. We were very pleased with their service. Utilized their Saga class. Seats were comfortable & the service was excellent. Saga class seats are comparable to a domestic first class seat. Wouldn't hesitate one bit to use them again on a flight in their market area. Pricing was good too an we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days in Iceland. And, we first learned about it here on cruise critic. Thanks for the tips!
plane2port Posted June 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Thanks for the review. This is something I would like to do as well. Did you find pricing competitive?
bdfred Posted June 5, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 5, 2016 I found the pricing quite a bit better than others. Purchased about 8 months before cruise.
Bramcruiser Posted June 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Glad to hear of your good experience. Living in Toronto, we used Icelandair a few times in crossing over to Europe even if it means a change of planes in Iceland. We are pleased enough with their Saga Class product and the price works for us. In fact we booked Icelandair once again to get to Copenhagen this fall. And we visited Iceland twice and love the country.
iancal Posted June 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Thanks very much. Looking at doing exactly that in late Aug/early Sept on a o/w from Toronto.
Tony O Posted June 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Looking at Icelandair going to Copenhagen. We know we have to switch planes in Rejkavic. Must you clear customs and immigration to catch connecting flight ?

Must you clear customs and immigration to catch connecting flight ? We came from Copenhagen to Toronto to Dallas. In Reykjavik we didn't have to clear customs or immigration. But, that's part of the Schengen Agreement. Going to you may need to dig further.

Bramcruiser Posted June 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Looking at Icelandair going to Copenhagen. We know we have to switch planes in Rejkavic. Must you clear customs and immigration to catch connecting flight ? The answer is yes. If you are flying from North America and transiting into a Schengen Agreement country you will have to go through passport control and security as Iceland is a member country. The only up side is that when you land in Copenhagen you just have to pick up your bags and leave the airport. If you are flying into the UK or other non-member European country then you are separated into a different area. You board your flight but then face passport control and customs when you land. Reykjavik's airport is small and convenient so it usually does not take a lot of time to go through the procedures even if it is a pain.

Bramcruiser Posted June 12, 2016 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2016 TonyO, if I recall correctly from our trip to Amsterdam, I believe the bags get checked straight thru so there is no need to pick them up before clearing customs and security. You pick up the bags at the final destination.
