Kroozen Posted June 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Can anyone tell me if the casino onboard the ship are open while docked in Bermuda? It's been a few years since I've been on a cruise to Bermuda and I know there was talk about the government allowing the ships to keep their casinos open, but I don't remember hearing the outcome. THANKS!

SailBadtheSinner Posted June 5, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2016 The cruise line has to purchase a license for each cruise ship that visits Bermuda which would allow the casino to be open from 9PM to 4AM (??). Which cruise ship will you be on? SBtS

SailBadtheSinner Posted June 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2016 I was wrong about the closing time. It is 5AM, not 4AM. Here is a Royal Gazette article from 10/3/13 announcing the passage of the Cruise Ship Casino Act of 2013. SBtS
Charles4515 Posted June 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 5, 2016 I'll be on the Breakaway in September. Breakaway has the license for the casino to open after 9:00 PM while in port.

Kroozen Posted June 6, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Thanks everyone. Considering surprising my parents and booking this cruise for them as well, and I know they'll appreciate the casino at night!
meglet Posted June 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Anyone know about the Veendam?
SailBadtheSinner Posted June 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Since the Veendam's passenger capacity is less than 2,000. HAL does not have to purchase a license to open the casino. The Cruise Ship Casino Act of 2013 allows smaller cruise ships capable of berthing in Hamilton and St George’s, with a passenger capacity not exceeding 2,000, to open the casino without paying the fee.
