We've just got back from Barcelona and stayed at a hotel we saw recommended on Tripadvisor.com. It was called H10 Universitat, just off the Ramblas and really central. I booked a suite direct with the Hotel, got a good rate and would recommend it for its central location, its great breakfasts and it's nice glass of bubbly as you check in!

Hi:

We have reserved a balcony room at the Hotel Continental Barcelona, which is on Las Ramblas up near the Catalanya Square. There is two Continental's and they can reached at http://www.hotelcontinental.com. The hotel is very fast in replying to e-mail. The rate they quoted for a front balcony room for September 2006 was 105 Euros per night. Great location, great price especially when it includes buffet breakfast, free internet as well as 24 hour snack table set up. Frommer's lists it as their "favorite budget hotel" If you go to the Port section of this site and go to Europe.... you will see more on hotels in Barcelona.

Check out the Hotel Palace, (when we were there it was the Ritz) one of the nicest places, not far from the Rambla, great rooms at reasonable prices. Don't know if it is still that way, but then it was a 5 star, and has more history than probably any other hotel in Barcelona.

We have stayed at Hotel Continental. Great little hotel. We so enjoyed sitting out on the balcony watching all the people on Las Ramblas. Our room was large and bathroom was nice size also. Free internet at the desk, coffee and goodies they put out were GREAT!

There's also another nice hotel called Hotel Colon. It's right across from the Sagretta Familia (Spelling?) Might be a little more pricey, but also a good choice. We stayed there as well as Hotel Arts, which is a Ritz Hotel, on the water. Definately 5 Star and fun!

We also stayed at the Hotel Palace (Ritz) last Saturday night. Yes it does have a lot of charm and history but if you stay in Room 107 the room rattled as we appeared to be over the underground train system  . We had stayed there before the cruise but over the other side of the hotel which was very quiet.

Also if you have to check out prior to 7am like we did - you miss the buffet breakfast.
