ael123 Posted June 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2016 I will be sailing on Insignia to LaHarve. Oceania offers a transfer to Paris that leaves at 7:30 on a Wednesday morning. I was hoping to take a bike tour of Paris that leaves at 10:00. Has anyone traveled from LaHarve to Paris via a cruise ship transfer? If so please advise what your experience was like and how long did it take you to travel from the pier to Paris. I checked google maps but I am not sure if that would be accurate for a bus that might travel slower and also I am not sure what traffic is like between LaHarve and Paris at 7:30 in the morning. Thank you for your help.
Lutèce Posted June 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Where in Paris does your bike tour start? I would think it highly unlikely you would make it in time, given that your departure from Le Havre (note spelling) leaves at 07.30. Even if it leaves right on time, the fastest time via the autoroute (and that may not be the route the bus takes) is 2 hours 24 minutes to central Paris. That only leaves you 6 minutes to get to wherever your bike tour leaves from, and that timing doesn't include any traffic holdups. For calculating driving times in France, use Viamichelin.com - it's always accurate. You might need a plan B :)
Rare Hlitner Posted June 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Would not want to argue with a Frenchman (Lutece) but having driven that route a few times....it is very unlikely you would get into Central Paris in less then 2:45 during the busy morning hours. Traffic in and around Paris can be horrible (unless it is a Sunday morning). If your ship were to be docked real early (not likely) and you could catch the 7:02 train (from Le Havre)....then you would be in Paris by 9:15. Lutèce Posted June 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Would not want to argue with a Frenchman (Lutece) Hank But Hank, you're not..........I'm female:D Yes you're quite right. It would take longer - the Viamichelin website always gives optimum times without any stops for coffee, comfort breaks, taking traffic into consideration and with a following wind!!
