Barney Gallagher Posted June 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2016 I have read from several posts that what beach one chooses in St. Thomas depends on how many ships are in port that day. If there are a lot of ships, Coki beach may be too crowded. Is that true, and if so, is there an easy way to find out in advance how many ships will be in port a particular day? Thanks. We are in St. Thomas 8 am to 6 pm Tuesday July 5, 2016. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Callimero Posted June 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2016 Yes Barney, it could be a Little bit crowded. There are three ships at amost the same time in St. Thomas on 5th of July: The Norwegian Breakaway & the Norwegian Escape both from 8am to 6pm and later on the Carnival Magic from 11am to 7pm. You'll find all these useful information at http://m.cruisett.com/p/US_Virgin_Islands/620-Saint_Thomas/July_2016/ Hope that helps Cheers .Callimero

The http://www.cruisett.com site shows that, and the cruise ship schedule at vinow dot com shows which port you are docked at. In your case you are one of the 2 large NCL ships in port, and all 3 ships are docked at Haven-sight (WICO) which is the preferred dock. But it's not a terribly busy port day because it's low season. It could be much worse! Having said that, yes Coki will be busy as will Magens. But the best beach depends on what you are looking for. Gorgeous beach with amenities, natural shade, quieter vibe and snorkeling? Look at Sapphire, plenty of room to spread out if the swimming area is busy and still have shade. Very calm bay with more of a resort feel with a good restaurant? Lindbergh Bay; or if you also want snorkeling then Secret Harbor. A beach where you will probably just see folks who are staying in a condo? That's Elysian Beach in Cowpet Bay. Not sure about lounge and snorkel gear rentals, but there is a restaurant and beach bar and snorkeling.
