Bubba Bottom Fishing

Did Bubba's in SXM in July during our NOS cruise. Had great time. Everyone caught fish. There is a hostess on board who will serve you water and soft drinks. Then there is the captain and one or two helpers. They help you bait your hook or you can do it yourself. There are 2 heads (bathrooms) on board. The first spot did not produce a lot of fish so they changed positions and then we all started catching fish. You have to throw them back, though. This is a nice family activity. The only thing is that is was very rough the day we went out. Some people did get sick so if you are prone to seasickness check the conditions before you go as the trip is not cheap. There is also a shaded area on the boat which was good as it was hot when we were there. We were a group of 8 and some felt they would have rather gone to the beach rather than be tossed around on board. There were no complaints about the boat, crew, etc.

The fish are not the REALLY BIG ONES. This is not for tuna, grouper, etc. At least not what we saw or caught. We caught 6in red snapper, There is no way to get a replica. The only picture is the one you take- a Kodak moment. I think if you are a big fisherman this might not be for you. There may be some other excursion for bigger fish. Check that out or go to SXM website and check out marinas or fishing charters. When you get off the boat there are many stands and maybe one of them has a fishing charter. Also, if you take the water taxi and get off at the first stop there is a marina. It used to be called Bobby's Marina. I'm not sure if it is still called that. There were definitely fishing boats docked there. I just don't know if you could pick one up right then and there. Is this helpful? This boat might catch bigger fish but it just was not our luck.
