Ferry Southampton to Isle of Wight

We are considering taking the Red Funnel over to visit the Osbourne House. Would it be better to take the slow ferry (1 hour) to East Cowes or the fast Ferry (30 minutes) to West Cowes then taxi across the floating bridge? How often does the floating bridge float😏?

 

Anything else we need to see on a day trip over to IOW?

Ok...I did what I should have done before I posted and searched the thread. Found everything I needed in a post from last year from our friend John Bull. Unless something has changed in the past year, I'm good.
