Do you have to order an entree in ala carte restaurants?

While dining in Cagney's last week on the Escape I did witness restaurant manager questioning the waitress about a customer JUST ordering a bake potato for her meal. You could tell they didn't particularly like it but they really can't do anything about it now can they.

The Platinum certificates now specify one appetizer, or starter, one main entree and one dessert. Now I don't consider soup or salad an appetizer, nor do most restaurants, but in Le Bistro they have lumped the appetizers in with the soups and salad into one section of the menu. So no escargot plus mushroom soup anymore if using a Platinum benefit. Of course you can order both and pay for the least expensive of the two.

On the Getaway 3 weeks ago, Le Bistro allowed us to use our Platinum certificates this way: Soup, Appetizer & Entree (no dessert). We just asked first if that was OK and they said 'no problem'. In January, the Escape Le Bistro also allowed us to use it the same way.

Then, we went and got our free (UBP) frozen drink desserts:cool:

It's very simple, you can order what ever you want. They really don't care.

If you want to use a UDP credit, you are limited to 2 apps, 1 main and 2 desserts.

If you're paying, well, you just pay for what you order. That's it. Don't over think this.

When we used an SDP credit at Le Bistro and twice at Cagneys on the Jade this past April we were not limited in the number of apps or sides, just in entree number.
