riekl Posted June 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2016 My wife hates plain coffee. What brand / type of pods does the coffee maker use ? Has anyone ever brought their own ?
Dan_K Posted June 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Our Escape Haven cabin had a Nespresso machine. The butler kept it stocked with expresso pods (very strong, 10), regular coffee pod (strength 4) and decaf pods.
Rare graphicguy Posted June 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Our Escape Haven cabin had a Nespresso machine. The butler kept it stocked with expresso pods (very strong, 10), regular coffee pod (strength 4) and decaf pods. The Nespresso machines are nice. Good coffee. I like the French Press coffee in the Haven restaurant, too. I bring those Starbucks packets with me (pick your favorite), which is really good for instant! DMH15 Posted June 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2016 I pack a bottle of vanilla syrup in my checked bag for flight and then transfer to my carry on for the ship. Never a problem.

DMH15 Posted June 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) I buy the syrup at Dollar Tree. I love it. I like to keep it in the original sealed bottle so they won't think it is booze. Edited June 28, 2016 by DMH15
vulcan1971 Posted June 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) I was in the Haven on NCL Epic back in February/March 2016. Having been in the Haven two other times in the past, I was disappointed to see that the Lavazza machines have been replaced with Nespresso. Each person will have their own opinion or preference for coffee, but I do not find the Nespresso machines and coffee pods to be an improvement over the Lavazza machines. I've seen and experienced several aspects of service and amenities in the Haven that have been diminished while the cost that NCL charges the guest goes up. A real shame. :( Edited June 29, 2016 by vulcan1971
Dziadzi Posted June 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Oh my! Taking our very first cruise on the Gem this Saturday and will be staying in the Haven. Have read a lot of what the Haven offers -- but you note that a lot has been taken away. What will be missing?! Thank you.

Have read a lot of what the Haven offers -- but you note that a lot has been taken away. What will be missing?! Thank you. Probably more personal preference than anything else. I prefer the Nespresso machines over Lavazza (which I do not like). The Haven Restaurant just retooled their menus for the better. You'll love it there. Service is outstanding. Everything you see they offer is what you'll get, plus some. I'm leaving Sunday on the Getaway in the Haven. 2nd time as a Haven guest. Really looking forward to it. I'm paying the same as I paid for the Haven 2 years ago, but have more OBC. I'm certain you'll have a great cruise.
