amberjohn Posted June 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2016 We are on the August 5th Dawn Cruise and have a few questions about activities at the Dockyard? 1) What snorkel excursion do you recommend? 2) We aren't interested in a charter fishing trip but would like to fish in the Dockyard area. Are there locations where you can rent a fishing rod and buy bait for a couple of hours of fishing? Do you need a license to fish in Bermuda? 3) What other excursions/rentals do you recommend that we can do at the Dockyard? Thanks
fiftyguy Posted June 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2016 You might want to check out the link below for info on the Dockyard. My kids always like to jetski and you can do that at a place right next to the ships. I don't know the name of the place or cost but they enjoyed it. https://www.bermuda-attractions.com/bermuda_000027.htm
flowers44 Posted June 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2016 I don't think fishing is allowed off the pier at the Dockyard. Have never seen any place to rent fishing equipment around that area. We rented a Boston Whaler at Somerset Watersports about three years ago and my grandsons were able to rent fishing equipment and they even gave them some bait. The fished off the bow of the boat and had a great time. The did not need a license or, at least, that is what the guy at the boat rental told us. Rare CTSandy Posted June 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2016 My nephew and his girlfriend rented a boat at H2O water sports in Somerset when we were in Bermuda last month - weather was not that great but they wanted to go fishing. They provided them with fishing equipment and squid for bait - no license required. They just did catch and release but had a wonderful time. They booked the boat for 4 hours, but came in afte 2 1/2 hours - getting rained on and choppy seas.
Brighton Line Posted July 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I too suggest Somerset, while we didn't fish we took a Boston Whaler out, under back and forth under the bridge and out to the wrecks. They have us two loafs of bread and the fish were practically jumping into the boat, who needs a rod and reel? Took the bus there and back had a great time. FWIW
MOcruiserman Posted July 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2016 We took a glass bottom boat ride. Very fun and interesting. And they give you a rum swizzle at the end - tasty!:)
flyrhatr Posted July 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2016 We did the PADI Discover scuba at the Dockyard and loved it!
mvrck1010 Posted July 4, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2016 We actually are doing a jet ski tour at KS Watersports. It's $155 for a two person jet ski for an 1.25 hour tour. Advantage is that it's right at the dockyard, so no cost for transportation there.
amberjohn Posted July 7, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted July 7, 2016 In the past when our ship arrived on Sunday, there was no fee to go to Snorkel Park. Are Sundays still free? How much is it to go to Snorkel Park on Monday and Tuesday? Thanks...
