ekajun1957 Posted July 1, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I work a little with port safety and security. All ports with high value cargoes which also means "people" will have a certain level of security provided by the USCG. It will vary each time a ship moves so that no one but the USCG knows what is highly protected and when. Regardless of what you "SEE" all ships leaving ports are well protected from outside forces. chengkp75 Posted July 1, 2016 #27 Share Posted July 1, 2016 Thanks for sharing. Interesting though that after 30 plus cruises have never seen an armed crewmember. No problem with that crewmembers being armed for our protection. These are not crew members. They are USCG' date=' who board the ship either before sailing or close to the pilot station when arriving. They would be wearing USCG blue uniforms (sometimes the Navy camo). It all depends on their CO and the ship's Captain as to whether they are invited to eat. The only crew members who [b']might[/b] be armed at some point in time, are the security officers onboard.
