joetop2467 Posted July 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Going on the Norwegian Getaway in October and trying to decide between Altun Ha in Belize or Cacchoben in Costs Maya. We will have 11, 10, and 5 year old boys in our party. Don't want too long of a ride.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Either are good. if all you are doing is Altun Ha, then the trip is 30-40 minutes each way. Adding anything will obviously be longer. Altun Ha is a smaller set of ruins than others. If you are looking at Chacchoben though Native Choice, it would be an educational trip with some immersion into Maya culture that survived after the cities were abandoned. For young boys in your party, you can't get much more fun in Belize than with zip lining and cavetubing. So look at those excursions as well. The malecon along the coast at Costa Maya is a nice beach scene but little watersports or activities for youngsters, IMO. So visiting the ruins there could be a good alternative. joetop2467 Posted July 5, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Thank you. I talked to the boys yesterday and they really want to cave tube and zipline. So I think we will do ruins in Costa Maya.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2016 Contact Native Choice for the ruins.. You won't regret it. For the Cave Tubing we like David at cavetubingrus. http://www.cavetubingrus.com/belize-cave-tubing-tours They have zip line and tubing packages as well. I think they're cheaper per person than the ships and another good vendor, Butts UP.
