#1BradyFan Posted July 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2016 We will be arriving via: Amtrak to Newark airport on Friday 9/16/16 around 1:00 PM. 2 adults- minimal luggage. Can you please recommend a hotel that has shuttle from the airport and possibly to the Cape Liberty port? or would a taxi be best? We would like someplace clean with a bar or pub where we could grab a bite to eat- nothing fancy required. :D We do not need any return transportation. Thanks!! Beds - King, Queen, double? Transportation budget? Is walking to nearby restaurant/bar OK? Is public transit an option? Did you buy your Amtrak tickets already? Does that work for you? I already have a reservation at doubletree Hilton for $125 tax included. Was just wondering if there were any hotels out there that also offered port transportation. and I have no idea what a taxi would be from there.... I'm getting the impression that you are trying to be as frugal as possible. For port transportation contact these folks: Independent driver - 888-816-0973 inde.drvr@gmail.com No web site, no frills. Your price for the Doubletree is excellent. For comparison look at LastMinuteTravel.com at the Ramada, which is next to the Doubletree. This is $120 with "breakfast buffet" whatever that is. The Ramada offers Teddy's Sports bar which might be more of the pub atmosphere you are looking for. Another question - why are you planning to arrive on Amtrak at 1 pm? There is absolutely nothing to do at most EWR hotels - you are pretty much trapped there until the next day.

I prefer to be there early and relax. As long as there is a bar and we can have a couple drinks then we will be good! :D Thanks for your help!
