Transportation to Johnson Space Center

Recommended Posts

We have a cruised booked for next July and arriving 2 days early as we wish to take a Tour of the Johnson Space Center, we will be renting a car and wonder if we can drive the car into the Center from our Galveston Hotel. Another question is if we should get a hotel near the Center for the one evening before heading down to Galveston the night before our cruise. Our cruise departs on July 2nd 2017. Our flight will be coming into IAH June 30, 2017.

Yes, you can drive to JSC from Galveston. There is ample parking at the visitor's center.

Thank you Bob, would you recommend we get a hotel in the area for the night, spend most of the day at the Center, then drive down to Galveston Sat afternoon or just head to Galveston then go back the morning of July 1st for the day

Plan:

1 fly in Friday June 30th 2017 ( spend night nearby or in Galveston)

2. Spend July 1 at the Center proceed to Galveston overnight, board ship July 2.

It doesn't really matter as it is only a 30 min or so ride from JSC to the island. Hotels will be usually cheaper the further away form the island you are also. (If that matters) and by staying closer to JSC you are also just a short hop form the Kemah boardwalk area if you want to check out after a day at NASA.

Also, you didn't mention what you are doing with your car during the cruise (assuming you are keeping it as you didn't mention returning it before sailing) but you can also just stay up near NASA and just drive to the ship the morning of your cruise instead of paying the summer (and usually multi day requirement) rates in Galveston.
