Agreed! LIfe is too short! I plan to enjoy my cruise to the fullest too afterall it's what we make of it!:D

We, too, will be enjoying ALL of our cruises to the fullest, too... but in the future, never (or very rarely, maybe?) on NCL.

And we'll do a few extra land trips, too.

AND WE WILL ENJOY THEM ALL, just as we previously enjoyed all of our NCL cruises.

No one said you had to be sailing NCL to be enjoying your vacation. OP just commented on giving up complaining about the changes and enjoying his vacation. All the complaining on here lately is a downer and it seems misery likes company sometimes. Life is too short to worry about the trivial things such as these. Find the vacation that best suits your wants, be it NCL, HAL, Cancun, Europe, or Vegas and enjoy it. Less stress and more fun is how I want to spend my vacations. I can tell you I will be enjoying my CCL cruise in 3 months....just like I plan on enjoying the Vacation House we plan on renting in Florida next year and the NCL cruise we have booked in September next year...I'm even planning on enjoying a short vacation in North Dakota over Thanksgiving to visit with my DS who just moved there (what's in North Dakota???) I think enjoyment comes mostly from your own attitude and how you deal with the little things life throws your way. We don't let the little things bring us down and we definitely don't turn mole hills into mountain sized obstacles.

Well, the "problem" is that we LOVED our cruises with NCL. :(

We had their larger suites, and loved the space, the perks, and in most cases, the dramatic views (right in the front, above [or below] the Bridge).

And we were happy with everything.

Okay, nothing's perfect, but all together, it was terrific.

So good, that we took another family with us for one specific annual cruise, and later started invited another couple to join us. (They've just cancelled, too.)

So... the ONLY HOPE to TRY to get NCL to rethink their changes is to join in the social media informal campaign, because they DO read these things.

Whether they will do anything? That's a different issue.

But we've spent a lot of time in various other areas working to "change things", and... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

But remaining quiet is extremely unlikely to help/encourage any changes.

We DID spend small fortunes on NCL.

We are later in our lives/careers, and we are very fortunate to be able to do so.

We definitely recognize that time isn't guaranteed, and you can't take it with you.

[Gotta love the cute saying I think I saw on CC somewhere: "We are spending our children's inheritance, one cruise at a time ;)]

We certainly don't object to those who DO find it "just fine" to stick with what in "now available" on NCL.

It's unfortunate that many of those people feel the need to object to those who, like us, have other preferences.

That disrespect (in many, but not all posts) is uncalled for.

CC can be quite uncivil at times, and that makes us appreciate another forum we are even more active in... one where courtesy and respect are shown even to those with dramatically opposing views (okay, *most* of the time!).

A totally separate issue is, as we've stated, how NCL did - or did NOT - notify people who were about to hit penalty phases.

That's an entirely different type of problem.

Sending notifications in "batches", many days/weeks later (vs. initial date of change announced), especially after penalty...?

Not okay.

It COULD have been avoided so easily - that's the real shame with respect to this particular problem.

For me it is hard to understand the loyalty issue, be it a cruise line or brand of pop. I have no issue switching either if they no longer meet my wants and needs. I don't depend on the company to satisfy my wants I depend on myself. Again my enjoyment is based on my attitude towards the issue. I do see the possible issue with the people caught with no option to cancel. But I have a hard time understanding their need to cancel over water and pop when there are so many different options available to them. Maybe not their preferred but there are options available. Like I said...in my opinion it is like making mountains out of mole hills.

Well, the OP has given up complaining, but that won't stop others from doing it in his thread. Nice job.

  • Grandkids love when Grammy take them on a cruise - they just can't figure out where the boat is because it is so much like land... they are just 3 and 4.
  • Grammy just loves to cruise with anyone, anywhere.
  • Grammy and Grampy aren't in the best of health but it sure beats not getting up in the morning.
  • DD loves when she is invited also
  • Grammy wants a license plate that says "I love to cruise"

Yes, NCL, we miss some things and we wish they had not changed. But you might take away some freebies or other things but you can't take away the cruise.

Keep on cruising...lost a nephew last week at age 47. He loved to crusie and he loved to do just about anything. Keeping his memory alive.

Until they take away my casino, I'll keep on cruising. It's been a "hell" of a week but the weekend is here so let's think positive. Life many other places is a mess, life here is sometimes a mess as well. I will love cruising till I take my last breath!

Some things in life are bad

They can really make you mad

Other things just make you swear and curse

When you're chewing on life's gristle

Don't grumble, give a whistle

And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...

I love that movie, and that song. Another one of my favorites, is this

the last line is the best.

Decided to give up complaining about what has changed at NCL and Just Enjoy My Upcoming Cruises. I am 63 and who know what is around the bend.

Enjoy!

Yes. THIS. You sound like someone I would enjoy meeting on a ship, at a resort, or in a restaurant. Life, and vacations, are what you make of them. The only thing constant about life is change. Attitude is everything!

I just wish I knew where to complain about my grocery store no longer giving out S&H green stamps...

Good attitude to have! I live my life the same way, don't let the little things bother me. I get a KICK out of some of the cry babies on this site (y'all know who you are) who complain about everything. :D
