mamajules Posted July 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Has anyone recently been to the public beach in Bayahibe? Lots of older threads about experiences there, but nothing recent. We are thinking about just taking a taxi to Bayahibe and hang out on the public beach, don't feel like paying $$$$ for AI, but wanted some more info. Thanks! rtap23 Posted August 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2016 We went to both Bayahibe and Dominicus. We preferred Dominicus.
mamajules Posted August 4, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Thanks! Heard Dominicus was nicer. Our plan is to grab a taxi at the port to the beach.
jaburr24 Posted August 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Is it a long taxi ride? Any clue what cost would be?
rtap23 Posted August 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Not sure what a taxi would cost. We rented a car from Avis at the cruise terminal for about $

slmwo Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 I thought that I had read elsewhere that Bayahibe was only about a 10 minute taxi ride? Is that accurate?
mamajules Posted December 12, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted December 12, 2016 I thought that I had read elsewhere that Bayahibe was only about a 10 minute taxi ride? Is that accurate? It was probably around 15 minutes or so. We had a great day at Bayahibe hanging out on the beach Sent from my iPad using Forums
ParRoo Posted December 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 21, 2016 We went to Bayahibe. Did some paddle boarding. Had some poutine at a cafe owned by a French Canadian. Bought some presidente at the store and relaxed on the beach. A small local beach. Did a bit of snorkeling. Had a good and cheap day. blue_water Posted December 21, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 21, 2016 Bayahibe is a 20 min taxi and is a small town with shops and good restaurants and a beach bar where you can grab lunch. You can go to the public beach just past town, or take the guagua ($1 minibus) 5 minutes into the town of Dominicus and the beach by the Iberostar resort is nice. We stayed at the Dreams Resort near Bayahibe for a couple weeks and walked the public beach between Dreams and Bayahibe and it's not too bad there. Be sure to haggle if buying mamajuana or other souvenirs.
