Ballroom dancing?

We're sailing on Oasis in October....so excited! Can we expect at least some ballroom dancing? I read on another thread that RCI has added ballroom dancing to their ships. Just wondering. Thanks, everyone!

I recall an event something along the lines of "Dancing to the music of the Oasis of the Seas Orchestra" in the jazz club. There is a dance floor there.

 

I don't recall if there was anything in a larger venue, perhaps someone else can add?

They had a Rat Pack hour on Royals Anthem, only once but we were at dinner.

 

I wouldn't count on it, but you can always request a song from the DJ.

Unless you're bringing a dance partner, don't count on dancing really unless it's in a line with really any other cruise line other than Holland America, Cunard, or Crystal. Holland is doing away with it as well.

 

Unfortunately dance floors take up too much space and there's less commercialization to them.

 

I've had some great luck with men willing to dance on Costa cruises... but they are not employees.

All "dance floors" on Oasis are small - think Latin Dancing size floors. If you are doing Rhythm or Latin - as long as you keep it small you will be small. If you are doing Smooth or Standard - it will be challenging but not impossible. BTW on all RCI ships we found the Latin Club to have some really amazing dancers.......club style dancing. Best tip I can give you is if you have "outdoor" dance shoes (smooth leather soles).....take them along also as sometimes the floors are a bit sticky.

Read your Cruise Compass carefully; there may be an evening with dancing to a live band, or a ballroom dance class on a sea day.

It's kind of sad they are doing away with the nicer dance areas! :(

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to add that I just got back from Explorer and there was ballroom dancing listed as an activity one evening. I didn't attend so can't provide details, but at least there was something!

We have had good luck with ships with a centrum. Grandeur usually has many ballroom dancers on it especially September through April. Sometimes up to 20 couples.
