Donoiv11 Posted August 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2016 Wondering what door decorations are allowed on our stateroom doors. Are the doors magnetic? Generally, almost anything is acceptable. Have fun with it. Make it your own. I do the same on every cruise and each time I spend a week at the Ritz.
Rare Banditswife Posted August 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2016 I don't think the door is metal, but could be wrong. We enjoy decorating our door on cruises. We try to find removable stickers or scenes. I found a nice tropical themed sheet & embellished it for our last cruise. These or painter's type tape do NO damage to the door. That's the only thing that isn't allowed- something that could leave a mess behind. It's an embarkation day ritual for us & a sad final night chore taking it down. Planning the door décor is also a fun way to pass the time while you wait for your cruise.

We used a small dab of gorilla glue on the corners and all along the seams of our Norwegian landscape themed panorama. They didn't like it, but I think it was because Norwegian is a competitor. The glue worked great though.
makeda Posted August 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2016 NO tape. NO glue. Magnets or Command strips only. If you must decorate doors, please read and follow the rules. Thank you.
Working 2 cruise again Posted August 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2016 We decorated our door last year on the valor with our kids. We used the Dr. Seuss Static Clings and they were easy to put on and take off.
Lisam81276 Posted August 3, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Will a regular size poster board fit on the door ? That is what I did mine on and now looking at the cabin doors here I wonder if poster board is too big ? trvlgirlmq Posted August 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2016 No tape or anything sticky that can be left behind. Everything is supposed to be fire retardant but I have found that is difficult to do. The best thing is to use command strips and we like to create our door decoration and then use a dowel to hang it.
cruising maniac Posted August 7, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 7, 2016 I use the putty that teachers use in their classrooms. It works great and keeps the decorations up all week. Plus it is very easy to remove. I bought it at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks in the school supplies.
quest2best Posted August 12, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks so much for the replies. I'll plan on taking command strips. This is my young grandson's first cruise and he loves Dr. Seuss, so I want to make the door to his cabin fun :)
