SKrauss Posted August 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Hopefully someone can answer my question about the FL resident discount... My family is booked on a 7-night western Caribbean on the Fantasy September 16, 2017. This is our first time on Disney but we have cruised Carnival, Royal, and NCL 10+ times. We are from NYC but my in-laws now live in FL and they will be traveling with us so we booked a 9A and 9D connecting ocean view staterooms... my husband, F.I.L., and the 2 kids in the 9D and my M.I.L. and I in the 9A. We were told as long as there was one Florida resident in each room if a discount becomes available we would qualify. I realize there’s no telling if a FL discount will be available on our particular cruise but we are taking a chance and hoping since in the past it has been frequently offered in September and that we will get lucky! Just to have a ballpark idea I have been monitoring this September 2016’s resident discount offers and I have noticed the discounts are primarily for verandah rooms. My question is if this is the same case for our cruise next year and they are only offering resident discounts on verandah rooms… will Disney let us switch to verandah rooms using the FL resident discount even after the final payment has been made or is that subject to the cancellation fee? We are looking for the best rate we don’t care about room locations we would take a guarantee room. In my experience with Carnival – we have switched rooms in the past after final payment was made as long as it was a better cabin and just paid the difference (the rule we followed is you can always “upgrade” but they won’t let you “downgrade”). Thanks! :)
