Anthem 5 day Bermuda Bayonne Question

Recommended Posts

Leaving this weekend for a 5-day Bermuda run on Anthem. We arrive back in Bayonne on Thursday morning. How is traffic heading south in the Jersey turnpike on a Thursday morning? Is it better to leave early, later or it doesn't matter?

Trying to decide whether we should get an early start like we would on a weekend or are better off taking our time and leaving after the morning rush. Thanks for any help!

Not because of traffic but to avoid the rush off the ship, take your time and leave late.

Thanks! I think because this cruise is painfully short, taking up every minute we can on the ship makes sense! Thanks for the quick response!

Sailing with you. After rush hour. Definitely. We are native New Yorkers. Relax. Take the later debarkation. See you Saturday!

I would only do that if we had all our bags with us. The one time we waited to get off the ship, someone took one of our bags my mistake.

Recently came back from the 5-night (July 23-28) on the Bermuda cruise. The turnpike south was clear on Thursday, July 28th. However, the first mile or two on 440 and the turnpike extension was a slow moving parking lot. It took over half an hour to get to the bridge over Newark Bay around 9am. But it was smooth sailing after that.

Enjoy your cruise.

Bayonne person here - the turnpike interchange will back up a bit as people head onto the extension. You have people heading towards the Holland Tunnel, and others going west into Newark and towards the Turnpike north. Once you hit the ramp to get on the southbound Turnpike it'll be clear.

Wait til after rush hour, like 9:30-10:00am to sail through the toll plaza.

Enjoy!

Just a quick follow up. We left the ship around 8:45, zipped right off and we were on the road right around 9. No problems at all. Back home in the Philly area in well under 2 hours. Similar experience on embarkation. Really pleased with getting in and out of the port. Hats off the Cape Liberty crew. They work hard to keep everyone moving along. Looking forward to giving it another go next year! Wonderful cruise on the Anthem by the way!
